E46 BMW, any thoughts?

Ya Suspension mainly, sport seats are super comfy, steering wheel is a little different, but ya suspension.

My wife has the 06 330i, premium and winter pkg, no sport, and rare gps option for the 3 series.

It rips, I love driving it in sport mode, I love the sort of engine braking it does in sport mode, turn off the ect, wooooweeee.

I do wish it had the sport pkg for the seats but other than that it's a perfect car, especially for her.

Bought it on a whim, didn't realize it didn't have a spare tire and ran run flats, except the mf'ing tires on it when we bought it weren't run flats, lol wtf! Don't make that mistake!

Good thing for the car, and for Brian, that it is in the garage, and doesn't have a chance of being shot at like your 4runner was last year.

Koz is all Toyota/Lexus. But, in this case, I agree with him. Unless you have a lot of money to fix all that goes wrong, I would stay away from post warranty BMW. BMW are amazing cars...beats Lexus in most things (e.g performance) when new, but not in durability and reliability.

I'm riding with my bud in his 335i (with sport susp) and BAM we hit pot hole. He says "O that was a pot-hole explosion. I'm like, WTF are you talking about. This was REALLY bad. He said this happens once in a while with the sport susp and BMW guys call it a "pot-hole explosion". After his second fuel pump failure in less then a year he sold it!

BTW - We raced several times (stock) and I would jump him from the dig (by approx one car) and then we were dead even almost every time.

I'm no Pro but I have spent alot of time down Englishtown (mostly on a motorcycle). The difference would usually be in the first 60 feet. I would run just under 2 sec and he would run just over 2 sec. You have to remember the BMW has a 3.46 rear and the IS has a 4.08. He also had a manual. At the end (quarter mile) I would be 1 to 2 tenths quicker. The IS hooks up perfectly almost everytime and is very easy to drag.

Well, that explains it...your friend needs to learn how to shift better. So, this is basically a win due to the driver (or lack of in the other car). Put the two cars in competent hands...and the result will be the opposite...maybe not one car length but i would bet BMW 335i will win most (if not all) of the acceleration, handling, braking races.

I have a friend with a 2001 330ci with 131,000 miles on it. Has it been trouble free? No, but the small electrical gremlins that started about 120,000 miles he has learned to live with. He also just got both front bearings replaced. The headliner is starting to droop in one corner.

But it still drives great, and knowing that Brian is good with a wrench, I would imagine that he could tackle most problems on his own.

We just want some pics once it is all through.

I work for BMW, have for 17yrs and I'm on my 6th model now, along with my T4R. They are great cars and alot of fun to drive. BTW the extended warranty on the turbo models if for the HPP and injectors, which we've has next to NO problems with the current pumps/injectors. However, I wouldnt own one out of warranty simply because I'm a cheap bas**** and hate paying for car repairs. I can tell you pretty much what ever you want to know and its not internet expertise, I know first hand. Shoot me a PM if you want, hell I'll give you my number if you have questions.

And what does G37 vs. 335i have to do with IS350??? Yeah, 335i is faster than G37...and??? Oh, are you comparing different tests and somehow extrapolating the results? There is no comparison to be had because you have different drivers on different days with different weather and location.

And the reason why IS350 is not compared is because it does not stack up well as a sport sedan!! So, these rags only concentrate on the top players to compare. Sorry.

Dude, IS350 is not as good as a performance car as 335i, no matter how you dice and slice it. IS350 is a good car with great reliability and durability...you should be happy with that. But, as a pure performance sedan, it lacks.

I'm thinking its pretty much the low profile RFT tires that have a very stiff sidewall. I have an 08' 328i w/sport suspension and picked up some 335i sport wheels for free that were all bent. Got them fixed/restored for $250 and non RFT tires that were take offs for free. Damn thing still has a crazt stiff ride. Car has been flawless. I got the 328I because of the HPP pumps but my next will be a turbo.

I promised myself I would not respond to any of your posts because when a debate gets to where someone disagrees with your opinion you would delete parts/all of their post (because you were the moderator), or you would make personal attacks, or you would threaten to ban them. Nothing has changed except you do not have the power to delete posts or ban me, so all you have left is to make personal attacks. Why am I not surprised!

For anyone who has gone back to the thread Thai posted, you will notice there are many of my posts where Thai deleted anything that he felt was compromising his opinion and showed he was losing the debate.

The fact is, time has past since the IS350 and 335i was introduced and time has shown that the 335i and the IS350 (in stock form) are just about equal in performance and on any given day either one could beat the other. What also has come to be fact is the award winning engine in the 335i has proved to be extremely unreliable and that the IS350 holds its value better. I won't even go into being smoother, having a much better interior and audio system!
