E46 BMW, any thoughts?

Weird, I don't see u complaining about any banned/deleted posts in ANY of your posts in that thread!! Please don't lie Koz...it makes you look ridiculous! So tell me...what posts did I delete in that thread???????????????

Anxiously waiting. You keep on saying that when you are found to be FOS! That won't get you very far!

The fact is, time has past since the IS350 and 335i was introduced and time has shown that the 335i and the IS350 (in stock form) are just about equal in performance and on any given day either one could beat the other. What also has come to be fact is the award winning engine in the 335i has proved to be extremely unreliable and that the IS350 holds its value better. I won't even go into being smoother, having a much better interior and audio system!

Koz, based on what evidence?? You have your sources?? Even the rag mags that you "claim" to hate (but yet still post them when your Lexus wins!) don't agree with your assessment of "facts" stated above.

And we now have a BMW tech who says that the latest version of the pump is very reliable...so, do YOU have any updated data to support your claim??

But, i agree about the sound system, smoothness, and durability. But performance? Nah, i don't see your viewpoint at all...and the evidences out there agree with me.

I agree that a Lexus IS350 is better than a 335 but you are derailing this thread.

No one has mentioned the 335 at all and if you look at my posts, I was talking about a 330 non-turbo which is a totally different car. This thread is called "E46 BMW any thoughts?" not "Lexus IS350 vs BMW 335"

The E46 is a great car. The most common issues are front lower control arm bushings (very easy to replace with common tools), power steering lines and coolant hoses and oil filter housing gasket. These items are typical of cars with some age and mileage on them. All these items are easy to replace even in your garage. The thing that separates Bimmers from other cars is how well the driver and car connect. When I'm driving my Bimmer I just feel connected and the car goes where I point it. They are not perfect but damn they drive great.
Reminds me of a saying I heard once, From the outside you dont understand it, from the inside you cant explain it.

I'm sorry about this happening. I just wanted to recommend a better overall car and to warn about owning an out of warranty car that could cost you dearly. Here is my recommendation; test drive both (330 + 350) before you decide. What I think you will find is; the 330 will not be what you thought it would be and the 350 will be better then what you thought. I can't tell you how many other vehicles/people I've lined up against and they could believe how well the IS350 runs.

Koz,

I believe you have good intentions so its all good.

A super clean 06-08 IS350 is simply out of my price range. I would expect to spent $25-30k and I dont make enough money to juztify that loan.

I just bought an 06' 330i manual w/ warranty. Details to follow.

Major update

I just 4RunningDaily's Dad's BMW.

He only lives 30 minutes away so it was pretty easy to meet up.

Pictures to follow.

2006 330i | 6 s-manual |titanium silver | 48,500 miles | 4 door (only neg)

Extended BMW warranty till 12/30/2012, covers everything including maintenance

1 owner

Overall condition 9.5 / 10

Factory upgrades include: sport package, adaptive xeon headlights, sunroof, 18" sport wheels.

Conner's dad Doug was very nice and I can tell he took very good care of it.

I think ths deal was for a fair price. I still need to buy tires in a few months but that is it.

I think these cars are hard to sell because there are not that many people in the market for a 20k used luxary car right now.

$18,500 paid.

Awesome deal! I bought the 189s for mine and look great! That is a great car and will serve you well, but be aware, you are gonna find yourself going much faster then you think. When I get out my runner and hop in the Bimmer I gotta tell myself to watch my speed!
