But just for anyone else who stumbles on this thread, You can do a great job with rattle cans and good matched paint. PREP WORK IS KEY! The better job you do prepping the better the job is going to come out. I bought a 2000 limited that was in need of two new front fenders. I bought the fenders of eBay just in black primer, sanded them thoroughly, laid a few good coats of color with duplicolor color matched paint, wet sanded between each coat, finished with a cut buff and polish. The results speak for themselves. I did this in my garage, I'm no bodywork man or painter. I'm just handy and don't like paying someone to do something I can do for cheaper. Be confident in yourself and take your time!

Here are the pictures of the completed fenders, You can see my panel gaps are as close to factory as can be. My 1997 is next to it for comparison.

It’s a good job, but not the same job as a professional would do. You need to be using 2K paint cans, and even then a rattle can might not match the finish of a spray gun. Longevity of the finish definitely will not come close. I’d give it 5 years before it starts flaking off. It’s much more brittle. Been there, done this. You live and you learn.

I have bought 2 fenders from an auto dismantler & from a pick it yourself type place... $40-$50 tops & a little time & you can replace that Denver yourself...

Seriously. Look for a fender in your color & spend some time replacing it.

It might take a little while to source the color that matches your silver is it??... but if you're patient it can be done.. or maybe eBay or Hollander parts or something g has something quicker if you can't stand looking at it.

I've got a dent and some yellow paint on the passenger side front fender. It's the metal part of the fender so I probably won't be able to pull it out with a regular dent puller that works best on vehicle body. Taking the front fender off is also out of the question since every single bolt has since rusted and is most likely fused to the frame.

Instead, I picked up a can of Dupli-Color automotive spray paint with color code 1c0 which is supposedly a match for our 3rd gens Millennium Silver. It probably won't be an exact match, but should look better than duct tape which actually kind of blends in when you look at it from far away.

Anyway, I'll get behind the fender with a hammer and try to push it out as best as I can this weekend and lightly sand and prep the area, then coat it with 1c0 spray paint and finish with a clear coat and call it a day. It's a 24-year-old truck so this is as far as I'm willing to go with this job.
