Easy simple magnet dash mount (pic heavy)

Parts I used
- SCOSCHE magnet mount amazon link
- 1/16" x 1"x 3' aluminum
- misc. screws and paint
Tools needed
- finger strength
- screw driver (phillips head)
- 10mm wrench with extension (makes it easier)

We got the amazing blizzard here in PA so I decided to have some fun with this.

stock dash

remove bottom piece and take out the 4 10mm silver bolts under the stereo. this will unlock the stereo and you can just pull it out.

locate bolts that hold top display. (black phillips)

a few bends and a hold drilled later I had a mock up

painted it to kinda match the dash

it has double sided tape but i added gorilla glue and even 2 screws (not shown)

i have not review it yet because well plows haven't hit my roads yet.
but i have confidence it in haha

Simple and easy. Good work! Once you drive around a little and hits some bumps let us know how it works.
 
Rad. Definitely going to look into this. Not sure if my phone would stick since there is so much plastic but might be able to fab up another type of holder. Good write up!

the magnet can go on the outside of the case
mine is able to be on the back of my phone and the inside of the case.
but my mom has the same mount in her jeep and she put the magnet on the back of her otterbox. she complains cause it is hard to take off sometimes.
 
After a fun day of running around in the snow. It didn't fall once. Metal is a little shaky but nothing a few tweaks can't fix. All in all. Keeping it on for a while.
 
i have had this offloading, in the snow, and even on some fast highways with windows down and not once has it fallen or even vibrated to where i was worried.
 
dgirouard39 is that a tab tool in the later pictures you posted, looks like a yellow stick. Just curious how that front cluster comes off and if you need one of those tools to do so. I've seen variations of those for popping lights and such.

Great idea btw. i have a ton of aluminum from work i could use to copy your idea.

i had the airvent one. The rubber came off on the fingers holding it into the vent, so not only did it not hold as steady, the metal underneith scratched the crap out of the vent.
 
Ummmm... why not just use the sticky base it came with? Took me 10 seconds and no unbolting anything to install mine.

Bruuuuooohhh... i have one and it doesn't sit well in the 2016 I have. Drive a ton and it does not function well when I am taking my phone off the mount all the time.

I need something permanent.
