Ebay Roof Basket

Does anyone have any experience with this roof basket? I know it’s not going to be the best quality, but it’s $50. Just wondering if anyone have pics or has purchased one before or a good reason to stay away. I like the fact that it comes with the extension and isn’t a piece that needs to be ordered separately.

I would be worried about it rusting real quick

I have the small version. Fits perfectly behind my sunroof. He's completely right about rust. A lot of the tack welds rusted pretty quickly. I fixed this with a few shots of rustoleum. This is just a bandaid for the problem but it seems to have greatly extended it's lifespan, considering it lives outside in the side yard of the house. You get what you pay for, but with a bit of rustoleum whenever you see rust streaks, you got a decent roof rack for cheap.

I bought one off amazon that is also sold at walmart for a similar price.

It worked out of the box for about 4 months before it started to rust from the screws, middle section and welded joints.

I took it apart and let it dry out for several days. Applied the spray paint can of bedliner armor to all the places i saw rust. That was 2 years ago and it has held up well since with a lot of usage.

"Black powder coated finish" says its powder coated, if it isnt he can get his money back

Maybe ugly but its cheap and will hold stuff. I would love to get a nice basket but I don't have the $500+ to spend on one... Unless someone would be nice enough to get one for my birthday on the 8th :thumb3::thumb3:

I've had the smaller version for 3 years. It is showing rust as stated above but that is an easy fix. I have had my. Packed camping cooler tent and about 50# of firewood on it and it survived. Worth every penny.

For the price, i think its a good buy. I don't think it looks too bad either. I just put in on my runner last week. I'm probably going to put a couple cans of rustoleum to help avoid rust.

Thanks for the replies. I think if the price was higher I would be hesitant, but for $50, I think its a decent deal. I may be picking one up now.
