ECT power?

I certainly need something because I think I should be getting at least 14mpg city at a minimum and I barely get 12.
I know the 3" lift and slightly larger than stock tires cut 'some" mileage down but there are many here with much larger tires and heavier bumpers complete with roof racks that are getting 2-3mpg more than I am.

Probably I need to just go through it and replace or clean MAF, maybe a couple 02 sensors, replace the Catalytic Converter, and definitely change spark plugs.

I need to change the water pump soon, so when I do that I will have everything else done.

I would like to be getting 14-15mpg city and 19-21 hwy which I think should be doable.

I had a new water pump put in at 92k and it ran better than before. keep in mind that my 4runner had 99k on it when i sold it. i know, i'm an absolute moron for selling it. i wish i hadn't but my dad's business isn't doing so well so i sold my car for him so my family could live a few more months. i'll get another one eventually.

Well sadly the original owner replaced "only" the timing belt and other belts at 128K, so less than 30K miles ago but not the water pump! and this was the advice the Toyota Dealership gave him.
They said the water pump looked fine.
Why in hell anybody would change the timing belt and not the water pump is beyond me.
So the pump that is in there is the original pump with about 158K on it.
I am going to change everything, pump, Timing belt, all other belts, thermostat, etc.
The pump is making a very slight squeaking sound.
Other than that the truck runs like a top, no missing or sputtering, runs quite smoothly actually but the gas mileage sucks.

That was rather shocking to me considering this guy kept up on his maintenance religiously and has all the records going back 7 years to prove it.
I got a folder that was at least 3+" thick with every single thing he has done to the truck since 2004 and he didn't seem to skimp on anything but the water pump (advice from dealership but still) I would have looked at the guy at the dealership like he was crazy as asked him if he felt OK if he had told me that.

I hope your family gets straightened out and back on track soon so you can get a new to you 4Runner.

With ECT on and OD off, my 4Runner seriously lacked power towing a small Yamaha jet boat up a steep hill. I almost didn't make it to the top of the hill... I thought I was going to have to stop, put it in 4Low, and crawl the rest of the way. My dad tows this same boat with his Infiniti I35 (4 door sedan, not exactly meant for towing) and his vehicle has no problem with this hill.
