Guys,
I have looked through previous threads and can't seem to find one to match....

My 4Runner will just go stone cold dead then try to turn over again and will start right up....while driving all electrical will click off...lose radio presets everything....sometimes when I stop the car the fob won't work but the power locks etc.. will work....sometimes I go to leave the car and it is dead not even power locks work and then when I return fob works along with everything else.
Battery is relatively new...

What do you guys think? Also it is single digits right now...so looking for suggestions to save me time working on it! Thanks in advance!!!!

Me too, then on to a bad battery ground.

Yeah I think it sounds more electrical than the battery being dead then randomly being recharged. Something is loose and losing contact with something else or losing its ground.

Ive seen dirty/corroded grounds do this before on other cars. There is often a main ground that connects to the frame, often under the battery tray (other cars not sure about 4Runners), and if this connection gets dirty enough it will break the ground connection. When this happens everything turns off until the connection is made again. Often a bounce down the road will bring things back into contact again.

Check and clean all the major ground points on the car.

What year is the 4Runner?

Another piece to the puzzle....today got in truck was dead.....hit the brakes and everything came on and the truck turned right over!!!

bad ground on the body side. not at battery terminal.

what i would do when this happens. get a multi meter. test for power at the terminals. then check for power on the wire side.

Time for me to take the walk of shame...... After checking things over today the battery looked great etc.....but when I started moving cables obvious corrosion inside and problem is resolved....Thank you all for your help and sorry to waste your time!:bash::bash:
