Wondering what people think here. Especially as it relates to age. As a younger individual I am inclined to lab made stones because of the reduced environmental impact and lack lack of ethical concerns (blood diamonds). Furthermore, after reading about certain stones (Moissanite) it seems that these are superior to Diamonds in almost every way. Sparkles More, Whiter, Less Imperfections, and More resistant to chipping/abrasions. Check out DiamondsSuck.com for more information...

So the question:

Only Diamonds?
How old are you? 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's etc...

I've gone the amethyst and diamond routes. Yes, routes.

The only "engagement" I want any more is when 4-LO kicks in.

But that's just me.

I got married in my late 20's and my wife was very, very clear that if I ever wasted my money on a real diamond ring I would end up with extra holes in me that the good Lord didn't give me at birth.

My wife wanted rings. I wanted a tattoo because I hate jewelry. After a few years of rings she came around and we got tattoos on our ring fingers. Much better.

Married back in 2002. Wife knew about Diamond wholesalers in San Francisco, where her sister lived. Sorry, don't recall the price, diamond set and a basic gold band for me.

I’m in my early 30s and went with a lab-grown diamond for my partner’s ring. It felt better from an ethical and environmental perspective, plus honestly, you can’t tell the difference with a naked eye, at least not for us. Some of our friends picked moissanite too, and it looks really stunning, super sparkly and holds up well. My grandma still swears by natural stones, but it’s definitely less of a must in my age group now.

Also, for people who love extra sparkle without the crazy price, halo engagement rings are really popular in my circle lately. The design makes the center stone look a lot bigger and there’s so much you can customize.
