Engine and transmission removal

I am about ready to do my engine swap and was wondering if there is a tread on the removal (engine and transmission) as a package? I saw and read all of the threads on just the engine removal but was hoping to pull and install them as package, it is a 4X4. Is it possible to do them both together or would it be better to just pull the engine and then the transmission? I want to eventually swap out the entire drive train. Everything is a 1997 4X4, donar and current vehicle.

There is a thread but I cant remember the users name or the thread name. I reccommend oicking up a haynes manual. They detail it out pretty well. Alos the one thing I remember from that thread is thag if your4wd youll have to drop the transfer case before pulling the motor/trans

Pull it out separately . The tranny and the transfercase is too long.


But if it is any consolation, I did install my engine , trans and transfercase as an assembly.

I just finished doing this swap in two 99s. I pulled the transfer case off and pulled the motor/tranny as a unit. Worked very well. I have some photos, but not much of a step by step for the process.

1. vaccuum hoses
2. accessories on the front including radiator, ps pump, ac compressor, alt, fan
3. air intake mainfold
4. electrical (dont forget the clip next to the heater hoses)
There are two long electrical cords with clips all the way down one goes to the Transfer case and the other goes to the starter.
5. fuel lines
6. drive shafts
7.transfer case pull (interior deconstruction)
8. motor mounts and crossmember that bolts onto tranny
9. pull all

I pulled the motor using choker nylon straps around the motor mounts and hoisting up.
