Hi Every body,
I have being driven 5 th T4R for more than 3 months.Every thing is fine with my vehicle.Only one thing I didn't like is engine noise which I think a little bit noisier than the other vehicle. When I stop at the traffic light,I turned off radio,cd and then I can clearly hear engine noise. My sister's 4 th generation engine sound is more quiet than me or may be I am a sensitive person?

I have an SR5 and do not notice any real engine noise. I would suspect a limited would be even quiter...maybe. Which model are you driving?

I have SR5 and It was a normal engine sound but I think it is louder than other car.I used to drive RAV4 and the engine was quite.

The noise comes from the extra 34hp they stuffed under the hood :lookout:

Notwithstanding the larger engine, I suspect, for cost and or weight savings, there is less sound deadening material in or on the fire wall under the dash and floorboard. If you crawl under there, you might find some places where you can install some fiberglass insulation or foam to help suppress some sound if it bothers you enough. I am sure I will be going under the dash soon enough for other reasons and will keep this in mind. If I find some areas that might be stuffed with sound deadening material, I can let you know.

I do notice a distinct sound at idle. Almost a slight knock. I hate to use that word, but its the best description I can think of right now. Does a motor with a timing chain make more noise that one with a belt?
