Exchanging tires?

So, I bought Yoko Geolander 265/75/16's (I think they're prob 65, I just can't remember right now) last November from Discount Tire. I just lifted my truck (about 3") and now they look puny! Anyone have any experience with Discount exchanging/pro-rating tires for something like that? I am thinking of jumping up to 285's.

Well, the reason I want to get them through Discount is for the warranty and free services. Dilemma, eh?

I think you'd have to buy new tires and sell you old ones yourself, I don't know why Discount Tire would give you anything for your old ones, they don't sell used tires.

I've received a credit for my old tires when buying new tires at Discount Tire, numerous times over the years. Sometimes it's straight from the Dealership after buying the vehicle new. Other times the tires I want to get rid of are half worn.

The amount offered for used tires varies, usually depending on what the Manager thinks he can get for your old tires. If he doesn't think he can sell your old tires, he'll just say he can't do it.

At any rate, it doesn't hurt to ask.

I could probably sell my used tires for more on Craigslist, etc. But my time is valuable to me, so I try the quick and easy route of selling them to the tire store for credit towards new tires, first. So far I've never been turned down.

Discount tire offered me 30 per stock tire with 500 miles on them.
I said screw you and sold it here for 550.

I've received as much as 80% of retail for trade-in tires. That was for tires that only had ten miles on them, just driving from the Dealership to the tire shop.

So far, the offers have always been sufficient for me to want to avoid the time and hassle of trying to sell them outright.

I was in the same boat. Lifted the truck and now the 265/75s looked a little small. They aren't actually that small I just think the mod bug is taking over. When I talked to Discount tire they offered my $100 for the set, hell no! As soon you roll them off the lot they become used and used tires drop in value like none other.

On the other hand you do have a good tire with a pretty common size. You shouldn't have much trouble selling there here for a fair price. I am personally going to wait until gas prices level out. I don't see the sense in spending more money on tires to only thus spend more money on gas. Especially when mine are still so new and I have some many other mods I would like to do right now.

Those tires are still quite capable off road too.
