Exhaust hazards

I am now the proud owner of my second Runner. She is a 03 V8 Beast. I had some battles with the dealership when I bought it, so they are doing some work to her at no charge to me.

I am trying to find out if there are any hazards from running a true dual exhaust. (besides burning ur leg) The mechanic said it was a bad idea due to carbon monoxide getting into the cab even with the window up.

I have been searching the forum looking for a thread about this. So if there is one could someone point me in the right direction please. Or if anyone has this done let me know how it has worked out.

I doubt it would be street legal. Suggest you check with your local authorities prior to having this mod done.

A true dual exhaust? Why? And how? Run some pipe down to each side? I would be wary since exhaust gets hot and makers have to consider this.

The Ford "exploder" incident was just this. The perfect combination of weak tires and an exhaust system just a hair too close, tires exploded.

You won't get performance gains, and if it is sound you want.. well you can tinker with adding a different muffler to get you what you want.

The "burning" your leg comment, do you mean one of those annoying exhausts that pop out at the door? Yea, I would be worried about exhaust coming in the cabin as well...

go for it

Thank you for the heads up. I didn't think it would be illegal, but I just stuck with changing out the muffler for a more throatier sound.
