Reviving this thread. I checked the instructions by the OP and also the instructions from toyota... i feel like an idiot for asking this, but i have to.
those spacers that i'm inserting seem like they're going to fall off the way they're installed. They're half way inside the exhaust tip inlet and then half sticking out. it does not look like the OP's last pic... and the spacers seem really lose. Am I supposed to be crushing the clamp down on the exhaust tip inlet so much that it holds the spacers in place? that didn't seem right to me.

hey can anyone take another picture of the two piece metal shims parts underneath the clamp? it seems like the exhaust i have does not reach far enough passed the inner part of the exhaust. if I clamp the down on the metal shims where they are... then I have the feeling they're going to fall off.

doesn't sit flush and looks kinda cheap IMO.

Interesting info. Looks like a nice design for those who want these (definitely a matter of personal taste, which is just fine). For those who want one, another option is finding somebody who wound up with one on a new vehicle, but doesn't. Looks like it would be very easy to remove as well.

My 2014 sr5 premium came with it. It was a $90 add on on the invoice. Looks alright I guess but I'll be replacing the exhaust soon anyways.

Here is what I found:-
Once you push the chrome tip on to the exhaust you can feel the bump hit the exhaust pipe. Continue pushing, I had to tilt the chrome tip up and down to get it to slide over the bump. I pushed the input tip on passed the narrowing of the exhaust pipe till nearly at the bend-down of the exhaust pipe. The two spacers slipped in without issue. I then pulled the tip back out a little until the spacers were flush with the end of the chrome tip. Then clamp away, I used a deep 15mm socket. It takes the full 40 foot-lbs of torque to securely clamp the chrome tip to the exhaust. Looks good, easily removed and will greatly enhance the truck's off-road cosmetics!

I installed the the tip on my 2015 TEP, I thought from reading this post the tip was going to be hard to slip over the tailpipe, for lack of words mine was a sloppy fit, if not for the bend on the tailpipe I could have slid it all the way up the pipe. It in no way would be stopped by what people are calling the bump.
So now I have it mounted on the tail pipe so the tip of the tailpipe is about an inch from the front of the inside of the tip. Should I be worried at all having the tip so far under the bumper (almost where the tailpipe was originally)
I don't want to burn the bumper?

My spacers keep falling off. How did you put the spacers on?
I did just that, but they keep falling off. They are not snug. That's where I am lost.
