On the 4Runner I'm presuming? That is an Undercover Hidden Winchmount which includes the recovery points too.

Ahh, the team member who seems the most real and experienced.
Actually, Clay is the only one who seems like a Robot LOL. I think its part of being producer and main subject.. Never a good combination and just creates a strange vibe at times.

I appreciate the kind words.
Clay does have a challenging and often conflicting role but I think he's fair with his mistakes (like getting stuck in 8" of snow which was 100% authentic) and always losing his gear.

Do you have financial backing or do you all put 100% of your own money into this? Definitely been worth the watch so far. Sweet looking Runners too!

Not the OP. I know they do for gear. Also the 200 Series Land Cruiser is owned by Toyota and was lent to them for the series. The 4Runner and the Tacoma are crew owned.
What I don't know, and assume you're getting at, is if they are given a wage to be there. I suspect not, as I am not sure how big of a money maker it is, but I have no idea. I've been wondering about it too though. How do these people continue paying for their houses, bills, etc, when on a trip like that? Not that it's anyone business. I suppose it could be;
1) Single, give up apartment, cancel all bills/services, etc. No commitments at home, no debt = freedom.
2) Spouse at home and working
3) Paid a small wage from advertising $ so they can keep things going at home.
4) Work a good job and save up vacation time (this is what I would have to do - and I'd have to be really judicious with my use of vacation in the year leading up to this).
5) Someone in the crew received some fat inheritance and sort of funds the journeys.

This episode marks the end of the road (figuratively and literally) for the Expedition Overland Season 3 and our PanAmerican Highway endeavor, having now traversed Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina. The ending in Ushuaia was bittersweet, while we accomplished what we had set out to do a year ago when we kicked off planning for the South America segment, we would also be closing the tents for the last time and loading the trucks into containers. Life was slipping past us back home and we all had family, work and other commitments to see to, return was necessary and a relief in it's own right. We had driven all of these miles unscathed and came out not only better friends but life long friends because of it. We learned so many things about the world around us, the people we encountered and most importantly ourselves.
Last nights season wrap party at Equipt here in SLC was humbling and overwhelming yet provided some amazing fulfillment knowing that viewers are finding inspiration on our story and using it as an impetus to plan their own adventures. That was so encouraging to hear firsthand and I thank all of you that shared those stories with us. I'd like to thank everyone that had a part in this adventure, the entire XO team and staff, our families (my wife Candace is an absolute rockstar), the sponsors that make it all feasible and most importantly the viewers for making all the effort worth it.

This was an exceptional series. The cinematography and drone footage was first rate and the subject matter..... awesome 4x4's, a band of brothers (and sisters) in remote parts of the world? It doesn't get much better. This last episode in Patagonia and the return home, was outstanding. Well done guys.

Awesome to meet some of you guys and Paul of Equipt. Nice snowstorm and took two days to get back to Denver for us. Thanks for taking the Q&A bit and answering some very useful (some more entertaining) questions. Great stuff and inspiring to get out there and just plan and do it.
