Extendable sun visor

Does anyone know of any other model Toyota sun visors with the extendable visor that will fit the 3rd gen 4Runner? I know some 2001 and up had them, but as mine has a gray interior, it is impossible to find any. You can find plenty on eBay on other Toyotas, so I thought this might be easier if any would fit.

I looked into this a couple years ago. 2001-2004 Tacomas had the mirror extensions but don't know if they were a standard feature or optional. I had a 2001 Tacoma Double Cab before my 4Runner that had the mirror extensions (it also had the light Gray interior like the 01-02 4Runners). The 1st gen Tacomas also came in Tan interior too. I never found myself a set locally to try before I bought so I can't confirm if they fit or not.

I think some 01-02 Limited T4R's have them, but not sure if it was an option or standard issue for Limiteds of those years. I've kept an eye out for part-outs, but it's a pretty tough year/ trim combo to come across being parted out. If you live near any good wrecking yards, it would be worth taking a look.

I have some visors from a 2002 limited to install on mine. They have mirrors, lights, slide out things, and a garage door opener :becky:

I found the SR5 sun visor with the extendable visor and lighted mirror new, but the cheapest price I found was $175. Ouch! I have only seen a few Limited T4Rs with gray interior. The Tacoma is something I have not thought about though.

I'm sure if you could find out the years that worked you could pull them from a local junkyard for a lot cheaper

Bump in case someone has run into a visor that fits for the 3rd gen, beyond the rare 2002 limited visors.

My retention clips on both sides actually snapped over a period of 1 week.. go figure, 19 year old car with parts breaking in the same week. (joke)

Might see if my 4th gen extendable visors fit.. too bad they're located on opposite sides of the city.

Junk yard will probably just give you new (used) retention clips, honestly, especially if you buy something else.

I forget the dimensions, but I know that Sequoia and Tundra visors are 1 inch too long, even though the mount is the same, for what that's worth. (I've been looking at junkyards too)

I wish the 4runner had the dual sun visors like my '96 Ford Exploder had. Flip one across to block the window, and there's another one there to still block the windshield. Great feature.

4th gen has them.
I'll get around to measuring/test fitting the 4th gen eventually..
I'll try to remember and update this thread.

I read in another thread somewhere that somebody mentioned second GEN Lexus GS sunvisors would work on third GEN 4runners. I borrowed a driver side sunvisor from a 2000 Lexus GS; it fits dimensionally and is able to clip on however, when you swing it out towards the driver door, the angle of the sunvisor rod prevents the sunvisor from swinging outwards. It will hit the headliner portion just as you swing it from the front windshield. Even if you rotate the mounting pad, it will swing too low. Just thought I would share this bit of information.

When I was researching these I actually tried some out of a LS and a RX300, they both fit but the RX300 had the extending parts, they both fit in there, although not perfectly, as such, I have them mounted using one screw and they sit almost diagonally but with the swivel that problem is pretty much gone.
