Extended Warranty Coverage Denied?

I’m one of the many owners that are strongly apprehensive when it comes to mechanics at the dealership wrenching on my vehicle. My 2017 T4R and RAV4 are approaching the 10K mi mark, and the “free” routine maintenance is due. I’ve already done an oil change on both at 2K mi myself, just to clear the metal shavings.

My question is, has anyone in here skipped the “free” maintenance, and had no issues with the extended warranty when they had to use it? Since there is no record on the vehicle showing that routine maintenance were done, could that backfire down the road?

Just keep a maintenance log together with receipts where applicable for backup and you'll be fine.

you're not required to have toyota do the service, but you are required to follow the service schedule in your warranty book

it's been 8k miles and this will put you on a regular interval (much easier to remember if the mileage is 5k or 10k), so i don't know why you want to skip your free oil change, but if you are really set on skipping it you need to record that you did it in your service manual and keep a receipt for oil or something as backup

Document what you buy and when and what you replace with a simple log or spreadsheet. They have to prove that say your air filter caused engine damage. Cant deny your frozen caliper if you didnt use a genuine oil filter....

I did an oil change after my "free" service.
Had to use a 1/2" breaker bar to remove the filter housing.

and yes, the drain plug was way over 30ftlbs
