Hey guys,
So I've got this half baked idea in my head. After looking through craigslist for a 1st gen 4runner and noticed that the average price tag on the coolest Toyota truck is going for $3000-$4000. However, one could find a 2nd or 3rd gen for $2000 or less, but you don't get the removable roof that the 1st gen is notorious for.
So here's my idea. Scoop up a 94 or so 22re 4runner, and then go total viva la bam on it and cut the back section of the roof off. Then using some redneck enginuity an arc welder and a big fricken hammer, making the roof seal up again and be able to lock in place with some latches. Maybe even a hinge system to keep the roof attached but be able to fold out the way.
The whole reason I even want to pick up this vehicle in the first place is just to have a third vehicle on my insurance policy after a certain rate increase i wasn't expecting. I lost a car on the policy which brought me to 2 vehicles, so adding the third vehicle saves me $100 a month.
Has anybody ever thought of something so stupid? Or succeeded? Will it work?
