Face lift on a 2010 4Runner SR5, high beam issue

I picked up a 2010 4Runner SR5. It had been stolen and used to run folks and pot through the desert. When I picked it up, it had lots of brush scratches and some from and rear bumper damage. I decided to do a 2014 and later facelift with new bumpers, front and rear. New headlights (2016 model head lights, fog lights, new 2016 model head unit and some other odds and ends. Also installed some Bilstein 5100s all around and some 2019 model wheels.

I decided to have it all repainted. It is finally almost finished and it looks like it is ready for SEMA. The paint work is stunning. It looks incredible.

I have a few items to dial in, including the center console lights not working (issue with the fuse box in the driver's footwell, maybe bad fuse that melted part of the fuse box). I noticed that the high beams work when used to flash, but when the steering wheel high and low lever is pushed forward to turn on the high beams, nothing happens. The other lights all seem to work as they should, low beams, blinkers, brake lights and fog lights.

Any ideas? My first thought was that it might be a high beam/low beam lever. Again, when the lever is used to flash the high beams, they work great.

EDIT: and just like that the high beams are working again. Not sure what was going on, but they work perfectly.

One last glamor shot. Updated new takeoff wheels installed. I love the updated front end. Much more aggressive looking than the 2010 version. All in it was probably around $500 for the bumper ($200)and head lights ($100). I did have to buy a few new brackets, undercover and trim pieces. The 2016 head unit was around $150 as I recall. I needed a few harness pieces. Easy install. I have a short on the center console lights (radio, temp controls and gear shift lights). Blown fuse in the fuse box under the driver's side dash. Hopefully that will be sorted this weekend.

You can save some $ on one piece bumpers without the valances and installing used parts. I found a front bumper and rear bumper for $200 each but ended up having to swap the rear for a valance-style bumper due to a broken counting tab. I also found used headlights and fog lights. Saved a ton not having to buy new from the dealer.

There aren't many newer style 4Runners around the San Diego wrecking yards so the pickings are limited.

Overall the 4Runner turned out great, drives well (the Blistein 5100s are a huge upgrade over the blown out Monroe quick struts) and is good for at least another 150,000 miles. I didn't keep an accurate count on the money I spent doing the make over. It was a fun project. Due to its history it is dubbed the "420."

I also have a 2010 SR5. I like the light upgrade. Did those headlights match the hood, fender lines, and that grill trim piece like the originals? I gotta do this!

it all fit together really well. Hood was not altered. Just the bumper and the top piece on bumper with the Toyota logo on it. The mounting brackets on each fender and the mounting brackets behind the bumper and grill. Overall, it was a pretty simple upgrade. Thanks to all of those that had done this before. Super happy with the results.

Very nice. I am about to do the 2014+ from the bumper swap on my 2012 SR5. I will post pics when done, just need the time to swap everything. As for the high beams not working. Sounds like the headlight master switch may be bad if the highs flah but won't stay on.

Thank you. The head lights are now working perfectly. I have no idea what the glitch was, but they now work fine.
