Factory Alarm Issue

2002 SR5 Sport, factory alarm. At random times during the night my 4runner will let out a short, quick sequence of horn honks usually 5 or 6 honks. Can't tell for sure bc I am half asleep... Anyone having/had/heard of similar issues?

Does this end with your truck being left unlocked? Not sure if I am getting the honks but I have noticed lately that I POSITIVELY lock my truck, come out in the morning and its unlocked. Seems its happened many times over the past year or longer. I am OCD about locking and double checking by pulling the door handles both mine and my wives trucks to ensure they are locked because truth be told we don't live in the greatest neighborhood and I don't want anyone to get to our garage door openers. It is driving me mad. I have considered tearing my OEM keyless/alarm out and replacing it....Oh and the pizeo only beeps sometimes when locking and unlocking via the remote, I have to go back and check to make sure, may be related.

When I park outside, I bring my garage door opener inside. That's a common way thieves can get into your house. Break into your truck and then they have an easy way into your house.

I agree [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] however we both have Homelink door openers in the vehicles that don't come out. I put one in about several years ago before this issue started.

I also am very adamant about locking my doors at night and have come out in the morning to them unlocked. Seems like most factory dealer alarms have reached their lifespans.

Haven't had the issue of spontaneous unlocking doors, so I guess thats good... The 5-6 bursts of honks happened 3 times one night, most nights nothing, happens at least once a week though. I started parking half way down the driveway lol.
