Factory Auto Start or After-market?

Factory remote start

I just got my new 2011 TE Salsa and had them put in factory remote start, as I live in Canada, the most use will be in mid summer or maybe in the odd cold winter. I am very happy to have it in and have used it a few times more for learing and testing it. I have learned that if your going to waste the gas to start it make sure you have the heat or A/C on high and best to be on the face vents as this will help to shoot the air around the vehicle better. Be sure to make sure they are all open and pointing back and to the side windows, also be sure to open the rear passanger vents as well. I also had them program my remote open windows and sunroof as well as key in the door close for all windows except rear window. These are great features in many ways, when hot you can open all including roof a little or a lot and also start the vehicle for the A/C to be cool and ready when you get in.

No it does not. I had Ourisman Fairfax Toyota installed an extended range remote start for me and have not had any problems w/ the regular smart start fob. It's another little key fob, but I don't have to worry about line of state and distance issues like the OEM remote start

they all do that so someone cant drive off with your ride without a key!!!

And also, so you don't remotely start your car, put your keys on the kitchen counter, then drive off without your key. Once you get to where you're going and turn your 4Runner off, you'd be screwed!

SAY WHA?? When you open the door??!! So you have to start it twice if you use it before you drive? Thats WAY worse than forgetting to turn the key to IGN before pressing down on the brake and it shutting off!

Turn it to IGN before pressing the brake? Wait, what does this do? I don't understand...
