The clearcoat on my 05 SR5's roof began failing a few years ago and has become very bad. I have found a few small (about 3mm) places where the paint has chipped away and rust is beginning.
I can not afford to repaint my truck, so I am considering DIY fixes.
Another 4Runner owner said he had the same issue, so he taped off the roof (after removing the roof rack), wet sanded it, and then applied a coat of Rustoleum Bed Liner paint. I don't know if a few coats of Rustoleum Auto Clear Coat were applied, though.
Has anyone else had success with that, or other DIY fixes for it?
I would attach photos of the roof of my truck, but the image size is much greater than what is permitted here.
