Fair price for 2006 4Runner

Hey everyone,

I have a question I hope I can get some feedback on. Hope I'm asking this in the right place. If not, mods please move it to wherever it needs to be.

I lost my 2003 4Runner a couple of months ago - an 18 wheeler ran over me and my most prized 4Runner. It was my third one and I've been driving 4Runners for the past 15 years. LOVE them!

So, anyway, I favor the 4th Generation T4Rs and I've found a 2006 Sport Edition with only 58,000 miles on it. It has everything like my 2003 but I'm wondering about a fair price. It's in really good condition.

I've compared Edmunds TMV to Kelley Blue Book and there's a huge difference there. Edmunds has it at $14,218 and Kelley Blue Book has it at $19,736. That's a huge difference.

The truck was listed originally listed for $19,995 then dropped recently to $17,995. The dealer and I have tentatively negotiated to $17,500. I live on the west coast, if that makes a difference.

Any thoughts? Should I try to negotiate further or does this sound pretty fair?

Based on the facts provided it looks like a decent deal, its not a hug profit but you are not getting ripped off either.
 
sounds high. I just bought a sport 2007 4*4 with 47k miles. Its a certified pre owned. Beyond flawless, and paid 21. Granted, it's more then what there asking for yours. But, mine is a year newer, less miles, certified and 4 wheel drive.....
 
OP, that price seems slightly high but not outrageous. If it were me (which I am looking as well) and they won't go any lower on the price then I would pass and keep looking.

How much did he get for trade-in that they are selling it for $26k?
 
Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies. I think the price is a bit high, also. I think I'll give the dealership a call to make an offer and then see what happens.

I think he got $25k for it on trade but not 100% sure. They originally had it priced at 27.5k and recently dropped it to $26k. The guy that owned it is in his upper 70's and traded it in for a Prius. I which I would have known he was going to sell it as I would have like to got it before the dealer did and also would not have had to pay sales tax. It has a 2.5 inch Truxes spacer lift and BFG all terrains on it. He used to go off road with us now and then on easy fire roads in Arizona. It was always in his garage and very well maintained. If anyone is serious about this 4runner I can give you more details on it that the dealer would not know.
I know the spare wheel has some damage from being ran flat on a trail when he did not realize it was flat but there is a brand new BFG all terrain on the spare now. Also there is a slight 1" defect on the front bumper where someone backed into it.

Agreed. I bought a 2008 4X4 SR5 with 50k miles Toyota certified for $21400.
 
Interesting...I am looking at a 2003 limited, V8, AWD, every option available with 175,000 miles. Original owner, all maintenance records, new tires and never been in an accident. Seller wants $9K for it?

Not a bad price but the miles would be a problem for me. I'd wait it out. I got my 04 limited with 88K miles for 12K. An extra 3-4K will be worth the lower miles and lifetime left in the truck.
 
Hey guys, I'm the OP........ Well, the 2006 4Runner V6 2WD that I was looking at was sold to someone else Saturday for $17,800.

I've found a 2004 SR5 V6 4WD, 74000 miles, all leather, moonroof. Got the price down to $15,100 so far. Found 2004 V6 2WD with moon roof, cloth seats for $13,999. From what I've been reading on here, $15,100 sounds a bit high, right? It's in great condition.

Ya sounds high. I paid $15,000 for my 06 SR5 4WD w/ 79k in great condition
 
Well, just got off the phone - no deal. I made an offer and it appears the salesman quoted the price of $15,100 without approval a couple of days ago. The boss wants $16,200.

As I said before, it's a 2004 SR5, V6 4WD 74,000 miles, extras are leather seats, moon roof, audio controls on steering wheel ..... The boss wants $16,200. I told them no thanks.

I'll keep looking....

Great price, by the way, JDSupreme, on your 2006 4WD.
