Fair price for a 2008 4wd v8 SE?

I've been entertaining the idea of a 4th gen for a few months now. I love my 3rd gen ('02 2wd SE with 130K miles), but I also like the idea of having the v8 powerplant. Plus, the older they get, the harder it will be to find one with low miles, without being suspect of those low miles (I'm thinking of the 3rd gens for sale now with something crazy like 42K miles). So I think I want to get into one soon.

Anyway, I found this one at an ebay dealer that happens to be close to my house.

I was going to test drive it, but need some help in determining a fair price. The mileage is a little higher than I'd want (looking for <75K), but it has every other option I'm looking for - v8, Sport Ed, cloth interior, silver/white paint, sunroof. I was thinking $16,500 or $17,000 would be fair, but what do y'all think? Too high? Low?

I've also got a couple of general questions. I've never driven a 4wd. How do I check that it's working properly when I test drive?

And lastly, I've heard the XREAS system can be a pain to lift. Is the ride so much better that it would be beneficial to keep it and go through the headache of lifting it with a spacer lift? Or could I get similar handling with some FJ TRD springs and thicker swaybars with poly bushings?

Verify if the T-belt has been done. Many owners have sold their V8s around the 90k mark because they dont want to pay the $$ to have it done and would rather get a different vehicle.

I might have exactly what you're looking for in terms of options for the car from the dealer and mods/work I've put into it. (I already dealt with the pain of replacing XREAS by lifting it)

It's nice, but this is going to be my DD, so I don't want to lift it that high or add extra weight from bumpers, etc. I'll most likely lift with the Daystar 2.5/1.5 to get rid of some of the factory rake, but I won't be trying to fit 33s or anything like that.

For what it's worth I recently paid 17,400 in GA for an 05 v8 4wd sport with 63,000 miles.
