Hi fellow 4runner enthusiasts! I'm new to these forums. Going to get straight to the point. I drive a 92 4runner, 200k miles, 3.0 (v6) 4x4. I've only had the truck for a few weeks. I noticed when I accelerate I hear a loud whining nose coming from the engine bay. It gets worse once I hit 65mph and then quiets back down when I hit 75. It goes away once I let off the gas. I don't think its a bearing issue. Not sure what is causing it. I've been told that it could be numerous things
Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Possibly, but usually vacuum leaks are loudest right around idle since as rpm's rise, manifold pressure equalizes out.

I'd pop the hood at idle and see if you can localize the whining. Belts and accessories like power steering, a/c, alt are generally the cause. The other thing to rule out is a grounding loop you're hearing inside the car which some people incorrectly think is being made by the engine.

Automatic or manual? I've heard several automatics that make that supercharger whine when you get on the gas. My wife's does it right now. I suspect it's something to do with the fluid pump, but I'm not doing anything about it until it dies.
