Favorite Beer

New here, so not sure if it's been posted or not. I did run a search and found one relating to alcohol, but not beer specifically.

Anyway, just wondering what kind of beer everyone here prefers. Myself, I prefer a good micro or import. Some people are wine connoisseurs, I like to think I'm a beer connoisseur, I've also been called a beer snob on occasion. No, I'm not a raging alcoholic to be thinking about beer at 10:30 am, I'm just trying to strike up a discussion here.

My favorite American mainstream breweries (that people have heard of) are Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. My old-faithful standbys are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Guinness Draught and Sam Adams Boston Lager. What I get whenever it's available is Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout or Mackeson's Triple Stout. Good stuff. Mostly anything by Brooklyn Brewing or Stone Brewing is good stuff too.

Lager: Harp and Sam Adams

Ale: Too many good ones and most are micro's. Sierra is a good mainstream one though. I like hoppy IPA's the best.

When I'm drinking alot: Miller lite

I hate belgian beers and won't go near them.

Rootbeer!

Don't drink anymore and haven't since college days so Rootbeer gets my vote.

But in my 5 years of hazy recollections at the Univ. of Calif....San Diego and Santa Barbara.......between being passed out in a toga and calling Ralph in New York......I prefered Pilsner Urquell, the most wonderful Czech beer. Sapparo ain't bad. Tsing Tao was pretty good. Orangeboom is really hard to find but has a tangy orange bite to it. Carlsberg is a nice caramel taste. Heinie was always decent and Becks.

Wasn't too much of a beer fan. The hops and graisn didnot mix well with me.

I like beers from Magic Hat & Victory brewing companies. Especially beer with very little carbonation and those that have espresso notes (mostly dark beers). My two favorites: Storm King Stout & Mackenson XXX. Our house ale is Flying Fish ESB; the frig is loaded with them. We have two refrigerators. One for food and the other for liquids (juice-boxes, water, & beer)

I used to be equal opportunity, but too many macros water things down and make products that just don't cut it for me. That's why I stick with micros usually. Amstel is some decent stuff though. I've heard of Blue Point (NY brewery, right?), but I've never tried it I live a good ways from NY.

We have similar tastes, my friend. I usually pick up the stouts when they're available. Mackeson's is one of my favorites. I need to get a 2 fridge setup like you. :cheers:

Hoegaarden...Belgium white beer. Expensive, but definitely worth the cost. Best beer made...micro or macro.

New Castle, Castle Lager, Singha, bud lite and occasionally a corona... ( dunno if you can get these in the states, but I live in New Delhi India right now...)

Wow, some very interesting beers in this thread, cant say that ive tried many of them. Anyway here are my favorites:

Draft: XX Amber or Killians Irish Red
Bottle: Bud Select, Bud, Amber Bock, Michelob
Dark: Guiness

Im always open to trying new ones as well.

Ahhhh...... One of my favorite subjects. Any of you beer Connoisseurs out there need to check out www.beeradvocate.com . It is a great website about beer and all its glory. I have lived overseas for the past 6 years so most of my favorite beers would be unheard of.
