feedback on lift options

Im debating on what direction to go with my choice in a 2" lift or 3" ? I'm under the impression that if I decide to go with a 3" or more lift , I will have to change other components as well ? Is it necessary to replace control arm for wheel alignment when installing 3" lift and what other suspension hardware is recommended to replace at time of install ?

You could get a diff drop, but you don't really need one. I went with tundra coils for the front, and OME 891s in the rear with bilstein 5100s all around. You don't need to replace much else really. All the info is in the 3rd gen lift faq thread, take a look.

I put OME springs and "matching" shocks on mine(see signature for which springs) and nothing else: no diff drop, no panhard bar changes, just an alignment after the install. everything is fine almost 2 years later: no weird handling, no CV axle problems, etc. Stiff, though....mighty stiff... started to mellow out after a year or so.

I appreciate the feedback from my original post ! After further investigation and a few phone calls , I decided to go with the bilstein 5100 2" lift . now I've just got to locate a set of reasonably priced TRD rear springs ... Anyone on here have any suggestions on where I might find a good price on a pair ???

I used car-part.com to locate a pair. Happened to be in another state in the same town my brother lives in, so it worked out well for me. Thundra forums would be a good place as well.

You want TRD Tundra front springs. Read this

I'd advise the Land Cruiser springs in the rear if you want a softer ride with more flex. The OME's lend themselves towards a sportier ride that excels at carrying weight.

TRD Springs ~ $80, LC springs ~$80, Bilstein 5100's ~$180, Monroe Sens-a-tracs ~$40, adjustable panhard bar ~$90, alignment ~$80.

If you haven't already, I also recommend doing lower ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, steering bushings BEFORE installing a lift. A lift stresses these joints much more than stock and trust me, you don't want them to fail.

If you want an even more budget-minded option, I'd love to shamelessly plug my spacer lift for $125 + shipping. It rides "ok", but doesn't require any supporting mods. I still recommend doing LBJ's, I/OTR's, and bushings though.

Best of luck and remember, if you need help just ask!
