The GX 460 and Tahoe/Yukon both have fold-flat 3rd row seats. They did it the same way as the GX 460 -- they raised the rear deck 5 inches.

But that elevated deck significantly reduces cargo volume.

Yeah I see a lot of them on the trails around here also , the trails of Beverly Hills ! LOL it's not like apples and oranges more like apples and hammers. That thing has no business being off road and I don't see how you could put 35's on it with the fenders still on and KDSS but whatever fan boys.

Just because most Land Cruisers you see are at the mall does not mean they do not belong off road, same goes for G-wagens and Rovers.

Those three are some of the most highly capable off road vehicles in the world...in stock form. Not to mention if they are off road modified.

Thanks. The 2013 LC isn't going to cost me much more than a new GX460 Premium. I think it is going to be more comfortable for me, and there are times that I need the room.

It's a lease return. They are painting the bumpers to clean up some scuff marks. Hopefully they will have that done by Wednesday.

GX460 Without Nav?

After test-driving a GX460 two years ago when I was shopping for a vehicle for the mrs., we ended up going with the ’14 Limited. I was underwhelmed by the GX460 initially, but I decided to give it another shot. I drove one about a week ago and liked it better this time. I’m still on the fence, but it’s the only vehicle that seems to makes sense for me for what I want as a replacement for my ’03 V8. Here’s my question: Would it be a huge mistake to buy one without Nav? I don’t really want it since I’ll rarely use it if ever. And, for as long as I keep vehicles, it's eventually going to be completely outdated. In addition to that, I’d rather apply the $ to a couple sets of AT tires down the road. But, everyone is telling me that it would be really hard to sell a used Lexus without Nav, especially if I decide to sell it in the next 3-5 years.

I've used the nav like twice in the 4R. otherwise its so much easier and faster to do it on your phone.

We have nav in all our cars and never use them. Our I Phones work way better. As for resale I think most people use their phones so not an issue. Maybe on paper but if the car is taken care of it will sell for a premium.

Not too long ago one of my friends told me to try Waze when I was driving into an area known for heavy traffic. I was very impressed by the real time crowd sourced information and routing. Very cutting edge stuff that is missing from any in-vehicle Nav I've tried.

I appreciate the feedback and am glad to see that I’m not the only one who feels this way. I am hoping that if I went the no-Nav route and cut it loose earlier than planned, the dealers wouldn’t beat me up too much on trade over it. I normally sell privately, but I’m guessing that most people spending a lot for a used vehicle will want to go the CPO route, so I have consider that possibility.

Curious to know if you've ever tried using your iPhone off-road for navigation? Stock Navi is a fair option for those that venture off the beaten bath. Most, if not all, the off road trails near me are on the navigation system, but I get no signal for directions while I'm wheeling.

I dont use factory nav for directions, but I do like it for a general awarness of where I am when in an area I'm not particularly familiar with. I love the 460, but won't consider one because I hate the third row and the space it takes up. If not for that, the 460 would be hard to pass up.

I have a 14 gx base that I paid $47k +tax new. Msrp $50k.

It does not have nav but there is a big 7 in screen with back up camera. To me, back up camera is all I need. I use a $100 garmin or my iPhone for nav needs.

My friend has a 14 gx with nav. He does not even use the nav. He paid $5k more than me because that's the way dealer spec them. My car will be worth $1.5-2.5k less used than his, but I saved $5k up front.

Dealer near me got a 2015 GX460 in grey, so I went and checked it out.

I've always complained that the 5th gen is underpowered, but despite that the GX460 was a little underwhelming. It definitely has better low-end torque, but the difference wasn't as substantial as I would have wanted. The driving experience felt a little muted. Steering feel left a lot to be desired too.

I was worried that I'd test drive it and like it so much that I'd trade my 4Runner in for it, but that was definitely not the case.
