Firestone Introduces Destination M/T Off-Road Tire

This looks very interesting, enough to make me pull my head up out of the swampwater for a moment or two to think about possibilities once my Vatiivas need to be recycled. Anyone out there had experience with this tire, especially in Winter conditions? Ice and snow feedback from on-the-ground users would be extremely valuable.

Nice looking tire , almost looks like a massive aggressive AT instead of a flow blown mudder .

Remember that NONE of the M/Ts are good in winter conditions, esp. ice. M/Ts may do well in deep snow where the deep wide lugs help dig thru the snow. However, with little rubber contact and lack of extensive siping, most M/Ts will be bad on ice. You should probably stick to all-terrain tires if winter traction is important.

What is your definition of a "flow blown mudder"???

IMHO, the Firestones are indeed 100% mud-terrains, in the same league as BFG M/Ts. The lug space and tread depth are on-par with BFG M/T (which my brother has). And, from personal experience, it cleans and claws as well as BFG M/Ts, while being slightly quieter on-road. :)

Its just looks like a good tire , your reading to much into my comment ( again). I agree it is a good mud tire reading your review a long time ago , just a new unique design that looks well thought out and doesn't look like a Superswamper...lol . I've also recently looked at the Firestone AT Destination ( I think ) ?? I liked that too.

Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot , my writing is just what my perception is . Don't get so damn defensive about everything I never said it compared to BFG , you did. Its a nice tire ok ..... wouldn't mind it myself if I did what you do with your "G".

It just looks to me like a for a mud tire it would have good handling characteristics on road like an AT might have , unlike most if not all mud tires.

I found this review on the net...maybe the biggest endorsement of a tire:

"as a private contractor here in Afghanistan our trucks and tires take alot of abuse. our mission takes us all around the country from desert to mountains and every were in between, our previous tires let us down more than once and out here that can be fatal. we switched to the firestones a year ago and have not had a bit of trouble. not only is it great offroad but also handles well on the street. we always drive at max speed to avoid IED's and sniper fire so cornering and high speed braking are very important, the tires handle everything we ask of them. putting a set on my own truck soon as I get back to the states."
 
A recomendation does not get any better than that.

I have some first hand expierence with the Dest-M/T on my brother in laws F-250 and I must say he drives it off road like he stole it! and the tires hold up just great.

F-stone/B-stone has a real great line right now from the suv "street" tires to the Dest/MT.

I think im going to get a set of Dest-AT's for my 4runner next time around.
