First IDPA match

Tomorrow I will be competing in my first IDPA match.

Pretty Excited about it. I've been drawing and changing mags around the house so much I'm probably weirding the neighbors out.

Any tips for the first timer? I will be shooting a Colt 1911 commander in 9mm.

I'll let you know how it goes. As far as I can tell IDPA caters to a broad range of skill levels and should be pretty novice friendly environment.

I definitely have had most of my experience with long guns so this should be something different.

I have a feeling it will be much like a golf swing…the harder you try to hit the ball the more you pull your swing. Its going to be hard but Im going to try to my best to consciously slow down and not be rushed.

I'll report back

Smooth = fast
Don't rush it you'll fumble with the simple things because your mind is already 2 steps ahead.

Well it was unbelievably fun.

I reload and draw well. My accuracy isn't bad but is certainly where i can improve the most.

Recommend this to anybody who wants to improve their shooting in a fun and relaxed competitive atmosphere.

Safe shooting!

Slow is smooth- Smooth is fast!

Aim small miss small.

Those two things always worked well for me.

Keep us posted on things.
