First *real* camping trip in my 4R

I bought my baby back in April, but just now got around to giving her a true test...Big Bend. We spent 2 days in Davis Mountains State Park, 4 days in Big Bend Ranch State Park and 2 days in Big Bend Nat'l Park. She performed admirably...and even though she's only 2wd, she handled the 4wd trails with no problem. Came home with some new custom desert pinstriping too! Anyway, here's a few pics...

Great weather out there, wasn't it!

I was out there this weekend as well. We stayed at Guale #2 in BBRSP.

Yeah man, the weather was perfect! Luke (my dog) and I camped at Tres Papalotes for a few days, then switched over to the Yedra 1 campsite at the State Park. As I don't have 4wd, I was a little concerned about taking some of the 4wd trails (especially since this was my first time doing any sort of offroading)...but it did just fine. We went down to the Lower Shutup Trailhead; we also explored the Yedra and La Mota areas. I asked the ranger about driving a high-clearance 2wd down towards the Guale Trailhead...he said no way.

I can't wait to go back!

Yeah... that trail is a bit rough, and has some climbs that require 4LO (very bumpy, pretty steep). Worry about the transmission getting too hot with a 2wd.

Looks like fun! I'm always looking for excuses to drive on some dirt... what model and size of tires are those? I think they look great with stock wheels/lift!

FireEngineer - those are Nitto Terra Grapplers...265/70/17. I've only had them for about 3000 miles, but so far I love them! I've heard a tiny bit of rubbing when I have the wheel cranked all the way right, but it doesn't seem to happen every time...? Eventually, I'll probably throw the Daystar 2.5/1 lift on the truck...

And Mr. Leary - I will hit you up for some off-road trips eventually. At this point, I'm not sure when I'll have time for another such trip. And I feel like I may need that Daystar lift first...

I think those really fill out the truck nicely, especially for OEM size. I guess that is just all in the shoulder profile?
