First time lift, need opinions on combo

Getting my lift kit soon and looking for personal opinions. I've read through the really helpful Lift Info Thread but now want to hear your advice.

I do normal driving on the runner and plan to bring it light offroading soon (pismo, camping trails, etc). I like the comfort ride but appreciate the stiffness when needed.

Planning on going with..

Front:
OME 881 3"
Rancho RS9000XL

Rear:
OME 891 3"
1 inch spacer
Rancho RS9000XL

Wheel setup will be a 33/12.50/16 and I'll do a 1" body lift later on.

a few questions...

1) Without the top spacers on the 881, what is the lift of the spring? I would prefer to simply get a 3" spring unless that's the way its done. I saw the 883 and 882 but don't want to commit to using OME 90004 front shocks (Toytec site says it's required). Any suggestions?

2) Has anyone ever made the rear high than the front by an inch? Thinking about making the rear 4" so that if i have cargo/passengers, the rear doesn't sag, looking like i have worn out springs.

3) For those who've used the RS9000XL shocks, please share your thoughts! I read reviews but curious to hear but those on this forum have to share.

Thanks!

The 881's will be about 2-2.5 inches without the top plate spacer on the average 3rd gen. With the top plate spacers, you should be right at 3 inches. If you are planning on replacing the shocks anyway, i would strongly recommend going with the OME-90004's as they are designed to match up exactly to the OME springs. You can run the 883/90004 combo with no top plate spacer and still achieve a 3 inch front lift.

For the rear, you are pretty much limited to the LC coils if you do want a 4 inch rear lift. You can use the OME-891 instead which will be closer to 3 inches but they will not sag very much. However, they will ride pretty stiff unless you have some constant extra weight in the back

Feel free to call or PM me if can answer any other questions

Thanks, Dylan. Since the stance on the 881's are 2-2.25 inches, I think i might leave it and go with the 891's in the rear. My goal is to have an inch higher in the rear so that I can minimize the rear sag now and in the future, though i understand i can't fully get away from it.

The 90004's are a little over my budget. Does anyone here rock the Rancho RS9000XLs? Care to share what you think?

by the way.. would this clear 33/12.50 tires? With and without body lift?

You didn't say how much weight you normal tote around (bumpers, cargo..etc) but I would strongly suggest you reconsider going with the 891s. I have them (see my build thread) and the system functions well together but the 891 are really stiff IMO. I don't carry any extra weight most of the time and will be replacing them soon. Lessons learned from my perspective for your consideration.

If you went with an adjustable setup in the front and a softer spring than the 891s in the rear you could play with the front height to give you the rake you wanted. If you are dead set on the 891s I'll sell you mine used as a cheaper alternative to start with. Then I'd be calling Dylan to order some Bilstein 5125s!

I don't carry much with me as well. I have a few minor things in the trunk but nothing crazy heavy. I use to mess with honda's and we liked stiff suspension for racing/handling purposes so I'm trying to let go of old habits as i switched to offroading. Would you care to share what the stiff feel is like? Do you feel every bump when driving? I appreciate the advice.

I probably won't get the adjustable coilovers as its much over my budget. Do you think the 890's will droop a little below 3" or even over time? I'm curious if the combination of the shocks make a difference for height.

Just curious, how much do you want for the 891s?

Im rocking the 891's in the rear with 5150's and they are stiff but they ride fine. No complaints, but I will be swapping them out for LC coils in the future, just for added height not comfort issues. Good luck!

Do you think if i went with Front: 881 (no top spacer) and Rear: 891, combo that with the Rancho RS9000XL shocks, and a 1 inch body lift... would that be nice to accommodate a nice ride, aggressive stance, and clear some 33/12.50/16s?
