My wife and I just bought a 2010 4 Runner TE (used-19300 miles) and are already making plans to tour the "Alpine loop" near Silverton CO. We live in the 4 corners (New Mexico) area and have an abundance of off road trails to explore. We have never owned a 4x4 before and are very excited to the options/possibilities our new 4 Runner will open up to us. The only thing I am discouraged about is that the salesman informed us that the 4 Runner had the KDSS option installed and come to find out it most definitely does not. :nono: I had plans to install an ICON stage 6 lift kit ( a friend of mine swears by them!) anyhow so I am not too sure if the KDSS would have been of any certain benefit with a lift installed. Ive already been looking all over this forum and thank all of you for the abundance of information!! At any rate, we are very excited to join the ranks of 4 Runner owners and look forward to MANY, MANY off road trips to come!!

Welcome to T4R! Pics?

You were told it had KDSS and bought it thinking it did only to find out it isn't equiped? KDSS is an expensive option (about 1700 or so) i would think the dealer owes you some coin!

No doubt. I should have done more research before the purchase so I knew what to look for with the KDSS upgrade :redbrick: I wouldn't have even known how to tell if it had it or not. I called the dealer up the other day and the salesman said he had mixed up the option package with another TE on the lot that HAS the KDSS upgrade and apologized for the mix up. They said the sale was final. They did offer to perform the next oil change and check up free of charge. Live and learn I guess.
Im still stoked for my TE though

Nice looking 4R thx for the pic.

Did you buy it from Toyota? Personally I wouldn't accept "the sale is final" BS and offering a free oil change to make up for it is a friggin insult! While it may have been an honest mistake I would still be looking for some sort of compensation and if I got no satisfaction from the dealer I'd be calling Toyota proper. Just my opinion.

Good luck with your new ride!

It was purchased at a Toyota dealership. The problem is that there was no documentation,it was only his word. I have thoroughly expressed my disgust in the manner in which I was misled. I really should have done more research:redbrick:. If it wasn't for the fact that I got such a good deal on it I would probably be banging down their doors over it. It only had 19500 miles, clean title, not a scratch on it,remote start, back up camera, and a lifetime subscription to XM. I only paid 28K for it so I guess I cant complain too much. Thats not too bad of a deal for a TE. Thanks for cussing along with me though. Ive been trying to keep it on the down-low with the wife, as she is already so proud of our new 4 Runner. Besides, she is a natural redhead. If she got word of this she would probably go down to the dealership and head butt the salesman! We would be banned from Yota dealerships around the globe :(

Yup 28k does sound like a very good deal :thumb3: and as we all know, happy wife = happy life. And we certainly don't want her head butting anyone lolz
