Fishing rod holders for roof racks

I've got a 4th gen with a Rola extended roof rack and I'm looking for rod holder ideas for and upcoming trout fishing trip. If anyone has any ideas or has done something similar any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat, but with a 3rd gen. My plan is to get fishing rod holders like you would see on a boat and either clamp them on the side rails or clamp them on one of the bottom basket bars. Or you could get a telescopic fishing rod holder and mount it to the outside of the rack.

For the drive there. Have some ideas in my head that would take some fab work but wasn't sure if there was something already out there that was already working.

There are some ideas.

I'm a little more protective of my fishing gear and am working on devising an interior mounting system. It is likely not the best for reels/line/etc. to be exposed to dirt and the like on the outside of the vehicle. Perhaps if they were in a protective case it would be better..

I'm not a fisher guy but a lot of them around here seem to use 4 or 6 inch PVC pipe (with screw on caps) bungled or strapped to there rack. Or maybe trout fishing is real popular among plumbers?
