Just curious...what would make you choose a H3 over a 4Runner? I like the look of the H3, but it is a GM-based vehicle...anyway, just curious. :)

Well, I haven't chose anything yet. I have only drove the T4R out of the group. All of them seem to fit my requirements, now I need to go feel them out...

Well I for one am glad it is going to be 5 passenger and not 4 like Honda did with the Element.

Steel wheels and manual transmission sound cool too.

Count me OUT on the yellow. I hope they have a decent amount of colors to choose from.

How come the HP ratings are lower than that of the 4runners? It is the same engine isn't it?

Same power...just different way of measuring it. SAE came out with new restrictions on rating HP for 2006 models. Therefore, all Honda and Toyota have lower power ratings for 2006 despite having the same engine.

Did all makers have to adjust this? Or were the domestics already doing this?
 
It was nice to finally see pictures of it in a color other than blue. This is going to be one cool SUV. I am very anxious to see pictures of the interior. Why does Toyota have to tease us? :awais:

Agreed. Where's the red? Didn't the old FJ40 come in blue, yellow and red?

Also, were they trying to go retro with the photos too? They look like 20 year old Ektachrome shots...

Odd that the Yellow Cruiser had steel wheels...

Those pics and that terrain are tempting. I think there was also a link somewhere to some shots of a black FJ.

Hmmm.. Doesn't look like a lot of leg room in the rear. Also, they barley get any window back there... Is this the final interior? It looks a little toy-ish. I do like the urethane floors... The gages on top of the center stack look good. I wonder if there will be a inclinometer and a tilt gage. Old school!

Yep, just like in the first gen 4runner.
 
In my opinion, the interior resembles the Scion xB a little by the flat front windshield. I am a little disappointed with the interior. It looks to toyish like everybody else said. Hoepfully they will do a little fine tuning before it goes on sale!

Get rid of the blue, in the pic toybox posted of the interior, and I think it looks pretty nice. But, have the blue as an option/accessory for younger buyers and for personalization.
 
Two issues i have so far:

1. The fake steel/aluminum look...still looks like cheaply painted plastic. Acura does a nice job at making plastic look like aluminum.

2. Suicide doors. I just don't think that this is a good design from a safety point of view. You compromise a lot of structural integrity, no matter how much strengthening you do elsewhere. B-pillar is very important for structural strength and crash protection. See Honda Element's side-crash test...it's not pretty.

From pics, it looks like a Honda Element with a touch of FJ40...it should be the other way around. It looks like Toyota is trying "too hard" in designing it.

Hopefully, the production model will be better...but i still do not like suicide doors.

I agree, but from a practical (not structural) point of view it is better than a 2 door.

And I still want a convertable form of this truck!
