Take it for what it is worth... Speculation.. but it seems the Fj will have the Tacoma platform ala NON V8 and rear leaf springs. If so then the components of the Tacoma will be used one the FJ. There is a mention of possible Desiel application. If all this is true then as I speculated earlier that the FJ might be an Xterra and possibly a Liberty competitor. Hopefully the price is also in the same range.. Below the 4-runner

I would think the FJ would be based on the new Tacoma. Remember that the MULE for the new Taco was years back before the production model makes its debut. So if they were testing the Taco then I am sure they would test the Fj in parallel. Besides... it would be much more cost efficient to use one base platform for two vehicles than 2 separate.
I am definately saving some money off to the side for when the production model goes on sale this Fall as a 2006 model.

They are targeting the "youth"market and will be priced lower than the 4-Runner to compete with the Xterra.
245 HP, Rear locker!, 4-runner platform, 6 speed manual trans. Techno goodies, better approach and departure angles....and affordable!

Nah, its got a lot of little adjustments.
Grill changed, tire mounted rear, 4runner platform not Tacoma, more homey interior than industrial concept, no winch, roof rack with aux lights, fender flares changed up a little.
I like it... although it would definitely need a lift, badly... and some 33s. Ooooeee.
