Nah, its got a lot of little adjustments.
Grill changed, tire mounted rear, 4runner platform not Tacoma, more homey interior than industrial concept, no winch, roof rack with aux lights, fender flares changed up a little.

I like it... although it would definitely need a lift, badly... and some 33s. Ooooeee.

By the time it comes out plenty of lifts would be availible for the 4R/FJ/Taco paltform. I agree about 3" lift with 33" tires will make a world of difference, now it defintely needs to come with rear locker and ATRAC and it will be humming on trails.

I like the rear mounted spare, wish they did it on the 4R like the Prado overseas. makes it easy to have a big spare tire and get to it on trails.

I also noted some other minor changes.

No buckles on the hood. Mirrors are mounted on doors instead of the A pillar. No glass past the top of windsheild.(concept had glass for the first part of the roof) door handles are different. Toyota is written out in the grille instead of the logo. And, the thing I like the least, it looks like the rear glass is now fixed as opposed to where it looked like it would roll down (ala 4runner) on the concept. And lastly the fuel door changed. Oh and the mirror mounted spot lights have now become "image" lights, whatever that is????

Key elements

Lets not forget the key elements for the FJ. It is a rugged "affordable" SUV. It was meant to have the rear seats folded flat so that people can sleep in it or have a huge amount of cargo area. This will probably mean that no body would really be sitting in the back.

It is my opinion that the FJ will be a real SUV while the 4 runner will be suited for the more "Adult" owner (Old Man or for the Ladies )

Personally I would rather sacrifice all this LUX comfort and extras to have a basic down to earth 4x4 that the price tag won't have me chewing my nails everytime there is a scratch in it.

In the end it is gearing up to challenge both the Xterra and Wrangler owners. while the 4-runner is in the class of the pathfinder and Grand Cherokee

One of the big points in the video was that it is "still about a year away from launch". What they have at Chicago is just an "Exteriro prototype".

We've got a lot of time to speculate until Spring 2006

Sleeping accomodations?

Anyone know how big the cargo area will be with the back seat folded down? And will the seat fold down flat?

I'd be very intererested this rig if I could sleep back there, but I doubt it.

In one of the articles I read the toyo guys were trying to make a fold down front seat format, so that the WHOLE truck became a tent for camping.

If not, then it might be tight.

My 4runners about an inch shorter than that... and I've slept there before, not tight either. I'm 5.10ish, 11ish.

If not, then it might be tight.

If they made all the seats fold down flat that would be very cool.

The '03's exterior is 190" overall, and I have slept in it several times.

Funny how they don't give very good dimensions on the rear cargo area, it is usually in cu ft.

I hope it changed because I need three seats (bench) in the rear not buckets.

Well I have three kids so I NEED three seatbelts in the second row. In my opinion having only two seatbelts would lose them sales but if it had three and a bench seat nobody would even care and they wouldn't lose any sales over it.

You have a 4runner now with a bench seat, why would it matter to you?
