What time did you get on the wait list? If it was pretty close to the time they opened up it sounds like you have a great chance of getting in. Was pretty hectic huh? If you don't get registered you can still go, of course. Just can't participate in event trail runs, dinners, or raffle. Sounds like it's discouraged just to keep town population down, and they only have permits for so many trucks, but definitely can't be forbidden. Anyways, good luck!

I'm guessing the sooner you are on the waiting list, the sooner a spot may open for you. It worked for me. I logged on at exactly 10 and saw it was sold out so I immediately jumped on the waiting list. 2 hours later there was a spot for us. Even if you don't get a spot you can go just like PeteC said. I saw plenty of 4runners, Tacos and FJs out on the trails that were not part of the summit last year. In some ways it might be a blessing not to be part of the summit just so you can go at your own pace. On two of the runs last year our groups kinda unofficially adopted some FJs that were wheelin and were somewhat lost. We made sure they got over all the obstacles and back to town safely. That's the kind of good people that are up there.

Id like to attend this but it is starting to sound like a nightmare. I now have a bug to start shopping around for some armor.

I'm sure most things will be ironed out by the time the Summit rolls around. It may be a little overcrowded if a bunch of folks crash the party though. We attended last year and had a blast and met some cool people. There was an overwhelming push from my family to attend again this year (not everyone could go last year). Next year we may sit it out completely and let someone else get a chance which will give us a chance to explore around the Leadville/Buena Vista area. Definitely looking forward to attending the summit this year though!

Maybe, if it was dry. It would be a good way to test my sliders and FauxPro camera. I was tempted to sign up for Poughkeepsie this year but decided not to at the last minute.

Depending on your rate of travel and amount of stops you can make the wall in an hour each way. If allow more time for pictures and looking around.
What day would you do Poughkeepsie? It's dry here and no rain in the forecast so the wall will be in better shape them when I hit it last year. I'm not paying to be at the summit but we live down the road and will be out and about.

Wednesday afternoon may work. Just need to see if I can get the troops rounded up early.
Everything is still up in the air but I think now I'm going on a gulches pre run with a group. Not sure if we will get to Poughkeepsie or now. I'm envious of you living right up there, it's my favorite part of the whole country! Good thing NM is close.

What is the gulches? Never heard of it. I think there are a lot of gulches. Yesterday we did Minnie and Maggie gulch and then up black bear for flower pictures and back. The flowers are out like crazy right now. The peak blooms seam to be in the 9,000-11,000 foot range now. I'd run over to Poughkeepsie Wednesday if u guys do that.

I agree. Parts of it seemed a lot rougher than last year. My 4th gen made it through mostly unscathed but my 5th gen (piloted by my wife) got some battle scars from it. There was also a lot more traffic on it than last year which really slowed us down. Between the traffic and the trail leaders FJ failing apart, it made for about a 12 hour ride, which was a little much for my family.
