I bought the gauge by mistake, I was focused on it only going up to 15 psi and didn't read the rest of the info.

I've seen the maf mounted in both places. On my Boosted Taco it's pre turbo but that was mostly due to running higher boost, and didn't do a voltage clamp.

I think my code came from, I kept backing the spring screw outa my bov to try and get it to release, and it was almost falling out. This weekend I screwed it back in and knock on wood no code yet.
 
So last night I was ready for some WOT pulls. Wasn't paying attention to spool up rpm as I haven't changed out my boost gauge yet, but

@ 5psi WOT, in open loop, its 12.7 afr. Not too bad for stock ecu compensating, and about 120 deg F air intake temp(nights are getting chilly up here in Canada)

Snow meth kit up, colder plugs and 8 psi coming.............

So got to spend a few hrs this weekend finishing off a couple things on my list of to do's

Changed her oil, took 6 litres bang on, and didn't spill a drop with the relocated filter, and was able to fill the filter with oil first.


and put the skid plate back into place



then I was a idiot(from before). I forgot to install the heat shield, so pulled the turbo back off to get the shield in. I'll tell you the nice thing about building your own stuff is you know how to fix it lol.
 
very nice. i will be doing this when i get a 4runner, hopefully soon!

one question, how loud is it? i was wondering what the consensus is about adding a muffler after the turbo? what are your thoughts? i searched around and havent found much on the subject.
 
She's pretty loud IMO but I'm 41 lol. I have a Supertrapp on order with Summitracing and hope to get it on beginning of December or so.
 
Cool. Please keep us updated on that. So installing a muffler after the turbo won't hinder any of the performance, eh?

I've been meaning to ask, how noisy is your Turbowerx scavenge pump? I know Clownmeat used a Mocal, and had complained about noise.

I can't hear the pump run with the engine on, mostly due to the no exhaust program I got going now, only when I shut her off can I feel a slight vibration and light sound.
 
This is some awesome work! I have a manual tranny and have been planning for boost since before I bought it. I wish I had time and money to mess with a turbo setup. I will probably end up settling for a trd supercharger.

Nothing wrong with a supercharger, I probably would have done one if I could have got my hands on one for a good price.
