I searched and didn't see anything, so I apologize if this is repeating another thread. I reached out to Dustin about getting another wheel for my truck, and got this reply. My wheels are a couple years old.
"The lug nuts for your existing wheels won't be compatible with the new FX Pro wheels due to a mandatory change (unscientific, but mandatory nonetheless) from the largest tire chain in the United States. After 17 years of machining wheels to accept a certain type of lug nut and without any of our customers, employees, or myself personally experiencing any issues, Discount Tire (aka America's Tire in California) changed a policy and began requiring a type of lug nut known as an ET (extended thread) lug nut for all aftermarket Toyota wheels. They were harassing our customers and using scare tactics to try to talk them into purchasing different wheels, and after an extended debate we found that it would be easiest for all parties if we changed the drilling on our wheels to accept these lug nuts, since it is impossible for us to know where our customers will take their wheels for tires. I would like to reiterate that there are no safety issues with the wheels/lug nuts that we provided for all those years, including the FX Pro wheels that you have currently.
Technically you can use your existing lug nuts on the new wheels in an emergency spare situation, as the lug seat taper is still conical (which matches your current wheel),but you should use conical, ET style lug nuts with the new wheels due to the thickness of the lug hole depth with the new wheels (your existing lug nuts won't engage enough thread on your studs with the new wheels). We can provide ET lugs with the new wheels. They lug nuts look virtually identical to your existing lug nuts, and they even use the same socket key, but they are not the same. The current FX Pro wheels are identical in every way except for a slight machining change to the base of the lug nut hole (invisible once installed on the truck)."
In a nutshell, I cannot replace or have a spare without an extra set of different lug nut. A real pain in the ass. Just thought I'd share this in case someone is thinking of replacing a damaged wheel, or adding a spare.
