Well, thanks to y'alls good info and some Chat with my carrier, some Google, some email with my tech-savvy sons, and a visit to the US Cellular store, I just came home with a new Galaxy S7, which, under "Settings" has a Mobile Hotspot icon.

I've got my home wireless router connected and phone setup. Next order of business is to get rid of lots of preloaded shite.

The Galaxy S7 supports high speed wireless charging. Your wife's S6 supports standard wireless charging. Both phones can use the high speed wireless charger. The one item I miss from the older Galaxy is the IR Blaster. I think her S6 still has it.

Updating the update

I sit here in my 4Rs front seat typing this on my laptop, tethered to the net via my new S7. I have 3 net sessions running and the performance is quite acceptable.

It took me longer to figure out my laptop's MAC address than anything else.
