Forum consolidations???

OK, I can understand, to a point, the need to reduce the number of different sub-forums, but I think 'we' went a bit too far.

My biggest concern/observation is the loss of the 'Towing' forum. I followed it almost daily, and it had a wealth of information in some threads especially for those new to towing with the 4Runner. If the purpose of this 'place' if to provide a convient 'meeting' place and an opportunity to find and share info on common interests, why eliminate a fourm that did just that?????????????

:confused::shocked::dammit:

We are trying to reduce the "clutter" on the main page. Towing is more or less generation specific so that can be discussed in the particular generation forum.

WTH......Where did the 4ROTY sticky go? yah yah im sure it's not that meaningful to some........

So thanks for atleast NOT notifying me!

Well, I still think many will miss the Towing forum. Not everyone tows, but for those that do, or are thinking of it, there was a wealth of good information in some of those threads that appears to have gone down the flusher. Not going to continue to press the issue, wouldn't want to incur the wrath of the forum gods, but I feel our opinions are worth expressing.............

Hey guys,

If you don't like how something is being done, by all means, speak up and let us know what you want. We (moderators) are trying to make the forum better for everyone. If there is enough people wanting something we will do what we can to change it.

Agreed. Towing section was not necessary. Simply using the search function would get the answer(s) desired.

I was also disappointed to see the towing section gone (especially since I requested its creation in the first place). But, I understand the need for consolidation. The lesson to be learned here is to post threads in the appropriate sub-forum. If more people had posted towing related topics in the "towing" sub forum instead of the Gen Specific sub forums, it may have made the cut.
So will the "post your camper" thread be moved to the Gallery or somewhere else? What about the rest of the threads in the Towing section?

Since you're the OP of that thread, which subforum do you want it to be in?

Towing had 44 threads since it's inception, it was by far the least visited subforum. No threads will be deleted, just moved. The threads are going to be merged into the General Discussions section.

I suppose the General Discussions Forum would be the most appropriate since there are all generations of 4Runners that tow campers.

Though, for the record, I'd like to say that I think we should keep that sub-forum around albeit not the most popular.

How about a sticky in one of the subforum (e.g. Engines/Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Audio/Accessories) with links to the different threads...like Tow Rating and when you click that link, then it goes to the appropriate thread. Towing is kinda Accessory since you have to buy the parts etc. to tow.

Classifieds section...shouldn't that be lower in the forum list?

TSB should be close to Maintenance and Problem/warranty??

Off-roading should be higher up?

Off-topic should be lower down?

Engine/suspension/etc should be higher up close to Off-roading?

Polls should be just above Off-topic?

Just suggestions for better cohesiveness.

"Polls" could just go away altogether.
If you can't decide what color to paint your wheels on your own, well ....
