Found an '08 Urban Runner. Need some help...

So I found a MINT '08 Pearl White Urban Runner...

It's got 56,000 on the clock, and the dealer is asking $27,900 for it...

I've got the salesman to come down to $26,500, but I'm still not feeling comfortable about this. I have yet to commit.

It KBB at $26, 605, NADA is weird as it doesn't have the Urban Runner option to select that I can find. So it's booking out at $24,XXX.

There can't be any way that this thing is worth $26,000...is there?

It is a CPO car, drive train warranty is good through May, and the extended bumper-to-bumper is good for 1 year starting the day I buy it.

The undercarriage is pretty nice too; hardly any rust at all...


What would you guys pay for it?

Seems too high for me too. If it was an 09 Trail it might be worth it but not for an Urban Runner. I personally don't like the Urban Runner seats and Nav units. If it was me I'd keep looking. Finding the right 4Runner is about patience and determining how far you're willing to travel

Make a list of must haves and then setup a search on Autotrader. I had two searches setup. The first was within 100 miles and had very broad requirements so I basically saw every 4th gen 4WD that came on the market. The second search was within 500 miles and much more specific about what I wanted. I found mine on the extended search and flew to Kansas City to get it.

Paid 26.7 for mine, 25k on the clock two years ago in Macon, Ga. CPO from dealer in mint condition. Also 4wd since that will affect pricing.. I wouldn't pay that much, but it also depends on where you're located and what else is available.

Paid $26,000 OTD for my CPO with 50,000 miles about year & half ago in TX. Was looking for a while, probably could have gone cheaper, but I was feeling anxious. Not a real smart move on my part, but I love it (except the caliper issue). Had Xreas replaced before my warranty was up because they were leaking. The TomTom nav is rubbish, imo.
Go at the end of the month & try to see if you can determine how long they have had it, these factors will help in dropping the price.

Finding a Pearl White Urban is pretty rare, that might be the reason they're asking so much. If that's the color you want, you should give them a reasonable offer and take it from there. I wish I would have shopped around a while longer for a Pearl when I bought mine, but needless to say, I love my truck! Good luck with your purchase.

do you just not like alcantara or did toyota skimp on the quality here? because alcantara is beyond plush in Aud's and BMW's. To me the seats are the only thing that set the urban runner apart from other 4Runners, i kinda wish i had one.

I nearly bought a 08 urban runner with 50K miles in silver last August for 25K. It was certified too.

$26K seems a bit much IMO. I paid $28K back in 09 for my Urban Runner with 9k miles on it from a dealer selling it as a demo model. The Tom Tom system sucks, and the leatherette on the seats rips easily. Edmonds.com lists my 4runner/Urban Runner with 50K miles for $25K dealer price (in TX).

do you just not like alcantara or did toyota skimp on the quality here? because alcantara is beyond plush in Aud's and BMW's. To me the seats are the only thing that set the urban runner apart from other 4Runners, i kinda wish i had one.

I just don't like the way it looks. I think it's the stark contrast between the light and dark colors.

I'm in the same boat as most of you in thinking that it's way too high. I got a call back from the sales guy today and he said his, "Sales Manager" would be willing to come down to $26,000. Told me that they had WAY more into it than $23,000 and that they gave much more than trade-in value because of it's record and condition; I really felt he was BS'ing...

I replied with an email that I would give them $23,000 and that I felt that was generous.

I REALLY want to get it, but I'm just not going to get bent over. I looked for over 2 months for my CLK before I bought it and I can have just as much patience; it's tough though.

Do they have a free Carfax? It'll usually say when the dealer took possession of it so you can see how desperate they may be to get it off the lot. You should also take the VIN and register it at the Toyota Owners website and you can see if the maintenance record is everything they claim it is.

They've only had it since the 17th of August.

I would be the 3rd owner. The second owner only put 15K mi. on it before they traded it for a Sequoia.

I really don't mind paying the coin if it's worth it, and I've been on Autotrader for the last 2 weeks and even SR5 4x4s are starting with high price/mileage across the board. A LOT of them are over book or at book, which is sort of leading me to think that it "may" be worth it. The market around Texas/New Mexico area is not very good as far as selection. I'm sure they're using this towards they're selling advantage for sure.

I'm looking at an '08 Urban Runner myself...4wd, 68k miles for $22,500. I can't get the dealer to come down any on the price because he claims to have 20,500 in it. I don't really believe that, but I guess it's possible. Book value is around $25k, but the other 4runners I've been negotiating on (05 sport and 06 limited) I've been able to get close to 20% off book value.

Is 22,500 too much? I should add that I like the urban runner package but would be just as happy with a regular sport edition.

I would stay at 23K. I saw too many TV shows with car salemen and they always said that they lost money. At the end, they made 5-7K profit.

It's a dealer and no mater what they will never lose money even if they tell you BS like they will. 23K is what you should pay for the urban package, not 26K. If you finance this car then dealer is making big money expect to get 4.5% or higher financing. Dealer probably got this car any where from 10K at an auction to 20K for trade in.
