Evan, thanks for the two cents! Your comments on your own troubles with the back bumper confirms my fears about this one. And your absolutely right that I'm in no rush to buy another 4Runner, just want to make sure when I do (if I do) it's the right one. Finding that perfect one and at budget is hard! Good luck on your search as well!


For those who might be wondering also, I am passing on this 4Runner. It does sound to be too much trouble for it's worth. I had nearly come to that conclusion before this post was created, but before I gave it the shove off I wanted some opinions/thoughts from other T4R members.

Manuals have been and always will be cheaper than automatics, although there is an ass for every seat.

Too the the "there are very few of these" no there is a ton of manual 4runners, a hood scoop is $200 and a locker is $600, and a manual should be about $500 or $1k less than an auto equivalant, so that car really shouldnt be priced high. Thats besides the fact that 4Runner posted on T4R isnt in the best condition.

John, I have to politely disagree with you on this. I get what you're saying, if it was '99 and we were walking into a Toyota dealer, yes, and automatic would cost more as it was an option and the manual was standard.

Fast forward to today, there aren't nearly as many manuals as automatics, the manuals tend to be owned by enthusiasts (at least the 4Runner the Op is looking for will most likely be enthusiast owned) and you'll see that the manuals tend to command a higher selling price. I'm not saying there aren't deals to be had out there but the guy that posted the one on T4R.org is right, they manual, e-locker, sport is hard to find and will command a higher price.

You do bring up a very good point about being able to essentially build one though.

Nice finds! Just wish they were closer so I could inspect them myself... That first one would be what I'd look for, and at a great price!
