Found my rattle

So I've been trying to find and fix this rattle that's been poisoning my life on and off for 2 years now. Loud intermittent plastic-y noise that sounds like it's coming from within the dash someplace. Had the dealership look into it, they took the dash apart twice, could never find it. Tried pretty much everything, except looking into the engine bay. This is it.

There are two stupid little plastic pins where the arrows are, of the cheapest kind possible, that hold the upper plastic thingy attached to the frame. They are extremely flimsy and make the whole thing vibrate and move about. I took them out and replaced with something a little more sturdy. Quiet as a mouse ever since.

Hope this helps someone avoid the anguish.

First, congrats to you! Rattles suck the joy out of driving. Good job keeping after it. I ordered a bunch of those plastic clips and replace them when I hear the cowl wiggling. Your post has me considering if my current rattle could be related. I hear a rattling or even buzzing sound that appears to come from my lower center dash/console area. It only happens below 50 degrees and only on certain surfaces. It is not bump related necessarily so I haven’t considered those clips you mentioned. Was your rattle bump related?

That's awesome, good find.

So I have a 14 Limited and noticed that my hood has NO fabric/sound deadening liner like yours does in the pics. Should this be under my hood too??

Definitely bump related, would only show up (or sometimes disappear?...) after driving on gravel or rough pavement. Was very intermittent, hard to catch. Good luck!

huh, weird. It was there from the factory, but mine is 2016. Perhaps a newer addition?
edit: I don't think it helps very much either way :D
