1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited - $3800

Looks like it has the E locker

Pretty clean minus the front bumpers paint is chipping and rear bumper has a few dings in it. Interior looks pretty clean.

199k miles

Shouldn't last long....

How do you know it has a locker?
Also how about the frame? It is from the salt belt area

Who knows about the frame, could be fine could be trashed.

I was under the impression that if it had the 4wheel indicator light between the tach and speedometer, it meant it has a locker (being a 99).

I could be wrong though. There isn't a picture of the left side of the dash where the actual E locker button is unfortunately.

That just means it has the CDL or center diff lock.

The rear diff lock has the button next to the steering wheel and the light turns on in the bottom right corner of the speedo.

You really just need to see the button to make sure it has the RR diff - seems sellers are always not advertising this important feature.

I re-read the buyers guide and you are correct. The 99-00 have the multi mode option (center diff lock) which is what that light is on the dash.

I stand corrected. It may still have a rear locker though correct? We just don't know because there isn't a picture of where the button is.

Or can you not get a 99 limited with multi mode AND rear E locker?

You could get one with both the CDL and the RR diff locks - but they are pretty rare from what I read. Only on Limited Trim in years 99 & 00.

I also do not know where the buttons would be if it had both.

The button for the CDL is on the side of the tranny shifter. The button for the rear locker is on the left side of the steering column on the lower dash panel.
I sure other trims came with both those options. The Highlander trim package comes to mind.

I don't think so. The multi mode system doesn't have that center diff lock like on the 2001-2002. That button on the shifter is just the 4WD button but without the xfer case being engaged..

Either I am confused or someone else in this thread is lol.

I would contact this guy and see if it's still available. I have a 1999 limited and it has a rear diff locker. Not actually sure if all limiteds come with it but it'll come up in the bottom right of the dashboard and the button is on the left side of the steering wheel

So where do they put the center diff lock button then?

Because I have seen a lot of limiteds with the CDL in the space where the RR normally goes.

No your right. The button on the shifter on the 99-00 is for UNLOCKED 4HI. (Multimode AWD) To lock the CD you have to move the shifter.

Sorry bout that.

No button. You use the shifter as I said in my self correction above. The CDL button your speaking of where the RR button is must have been on a 01-02.

The buttons are in the same spot. If it has a rear diff lock (96-00) then it's the button to the left of the steering wheel. If it has the center diff lock (021-02) then it's in the exact same spot as the rear diff lock on 96-00. You only get one or the other
