FOX DSC reservoir install pics?

The reservoir mounts they sent don't work with KDSS (driver side) without modification, and looks like I'll have to drill and tap every hole on both sides. I'm also having difficulty with the orientation as the install packet they sent is using completely different shocks, lol.

Have you reached out to Fox to send you the correct packet?

I know there is no use reaching out to the shop you bought them from, since that will only lead you down a deep rabbit hole.

I started the other thread linked above, but I finally just grew some balls and realized there was no way around drilling the holes. After I installed the coilover I held the bracket and reservoir in position and marked the holes. Don't forget you also have to expose and cut off the little bracket protecting the KDSS lines (I used a Dremmel). If you don't do that it won't even come close to fitting. On the passenger side, I was able to reuse one hole, and when I went to drill the second hole the drill bit just popped right through, like the whole was already there but blocked by weld slag or something. You don't actually need to tap the holes, since the self-tapping screws worked just fine. Look at the pics in the other thread for the orientation of the reservoir. It's a little awkward since you kinda have to muscle it into position, but once you do you'll realize there's no other way it could go with how the hose fittings are positioned.

I finally did the install this evening. The FOX brackets need to be redesigned especially for KDSS, I was able to modify both brackets and make the driver side work without cuttings the full KDSS guard. Everything fits nicely and both ends of the reservoir are easy accessible.

Fox told me you can slightly loosen the nuts on the hose and adjust them as needed because they use o-rings. I did have adjust the hoses slightly and no air escaped so I know it works, just be careful. I think the brackets are too long imo.
 
You lost me. Mine are installed already and have been for over a year. They work just fine mounting them to their intended location. I guess you were running into issues because you didn't want to cut the guard? Regardless glad you figured it out.
 
[MENTION=99702]jrandom[/MENTION] I could have cut the guard but first noticed the KDSS hose would rub the fox bracket and could cause wear on the KDSS hose overtime (I see this happen often on hydraulic machinery), then I noticed the bracket was about 4" too long for how I wanted to run the reservoir. IMO...cutting the bracket seems like a quick fix to not redesigning the bracket for KDSS. Sure they have an intended location but who's to say that's the best way, I found a better way for my needs and ran with it and personally think it looks cleaner than how fox intended.

Several people including me have had issues with the hoses binding causing you to force fit in the intended locations. I can see the hose bind in photos people are posting so that's why I said in general that fox told me you can loosen the hose nuts to adjust if needed and not worry about losing oil or nitrogen. Hopefully this will help those with bind issues.

It was a pain but was defiantly worth it!!! I'm overly happy with these shocks on all 4 corners.
 
I guess I would have considered doing it that way if I knew you could adjust the hoses. The only difference it seems is how you access the adjustment knobs.
 
I adjusted the KDSS lines (worked them back), mine doesn't rub. the KDSS lines don't move and the a properly mounted bracket won't shudder. The machinery I have dealt with (snowcats and excavators) only blow lines at a rub point where there is an articulating connection or at the fitting from an improper hose length where it binds up against the lock nut. Not arguing at all and I do agree with your points :)

The clocking on mine I feel was a but not so much that I felt it necessary to loosen the fittings and adjust it.

Having had mine through a mild winter and 30~ days off-road I can say from my personal experience I would rather have the dials point down. The first time I went adjust them in spring I had noticed a fair amount of contamination had settled in the cavity between both dials and the housing. It was easily flushed but dirty none-the-less. Having them facing up, I would keep an eye on them, of course this is certainly dependent on where you go and regional climate and environs. I have considered making a rubber boot to cover mine to keep said crap out.

Enjoy, I love mine so far, the chew up washboards and rhythm whoops like nobodies business, even in these big ole fat frumpy trucks :)

what exactly did you do to modify the drivers side mounting bracket?

It looks like you cut of the part that would be below the reservoir (the part of the bracket that would be horizontal when installed).

Is this correct?

Yes, I made sure the bracket was positioned how I liked it by bending/forming it over the KDSS then marked a cut line across the bracket so it would be flush with the frame then cut, sand, paint.
