Greetings. I have a 1988 4Runner, w A/C if that matters.
I've experienced small water leaks for several years but this past month it flooded. I live in Western Oregon. The carpets on the floor boards front and rear, driver and passenger were saturated. I've dried it all out and removed everything, I've had the windshield professionally checked (no leaks) and have identified a few spots that I need to repair. The drain holes are clear. The biggest issue is that the fresh air intake oval that sits under the cowling cover appears to be rusted out and is leaking into the cab past the blower housing during high rain events. Unfortunately, no access panel was provided so I can't get to it to seal it.
Has anyone with this generation of 4Runner dealt with this intake and can provide some idea of the best way to open that area up. I'm considering cutting a hole and then when I'm done, sealing it with a water proof cover.
