Freshly installed MetalTech sliders on TRDP with pics!

I wanted to give a big shout out to MetalTech and the install shop RSG in Lakewood CO.

First, thank you MetalTech!

You are a pleasure to work with and here is what made this purchase worthy of a post:
The product was in stock. That is not the norm in the offroad world.
The sliders shipped and were delivered in 4 days from the time I ordered them. No waiting 4 weeks to infinity.
The way the sliders were packed, were really over there top. I think MT could ship an egg around the world and it would not be harmed.
I got them on sale, and saved some loot.
Super clean lines with the 4R.
Friggin bomb proof.
Powder coated on the inside of the rails and tubes, should help prevent rust for a little longer.
The sliders stick out enough that should save me from most automobile doors that open carelessly and they will know that I have won that little battle....


RSG:

Installed quickly and they were a pleasure to work with. "Huss" got me in on time and the tech in the back rocked it out. He even asked me if I liked how the sliders were "leveled" before he tightened everything up....

Some more details about the 4R.
My TRDP just had the new TSB completed for the front suspension. (clunk issue) ToyTec lift is installed. 34x10.5 BFG KO2's and stock wheels. No spacers. No Rub anywhere.

I plan on putting the sliders to the test over the holiday weekend in Co.:boxer:

Looks good, the Metaltech's are really nice. Love mine.

Could've saved some coin by installing them yourself. The install was pretty straightforward and fully bolt in. You just need a floor jack and some jack stands for leveling and bolting. But it's good to have a go-to shop and develop a relationship as well.

I agree that I could have saved some coin doing it myself, but I'm constantly on the road or driving around. This allowed me to work as they got installed.

Nice, Love mine. Really makes the truck look good and having the protection is a good feeling. Drove in on a rainy day, installed free in less than 30 minutes. helps to live sorta close. Great place to do business.

Just an FYI, MT just put the OPOR sliders on sale, I just get an email blast.... I believe they are bare, but it never hurts to call them. Great peeps to work with.

Just an FYI. I received an email blast from Metal tech about 5th gen sliders on sale for 20% off for those that are looking. I believe it is for the OPOR bare model units starting under $400. :trophy:

Most people don't have welders in their garage. I know I don't. So most of these companies will cater to our crowd. They do have weld on ones but most of us prefer bolt on. It's something I can do myself and not have to pay someone. Thats why they make bolt on lift kits. If you had to weld them on, nobody would do it.

Watchdogg is correct for the ease of instal. Plus not all "my buddy has a welder" can really weld. The other part is bolt on sliders are also a commodity that can have a future if the truck ever leaves your ownership. By choice or by literally accident. We have a set of 5th Gen sliders that a customer in TX was T boned in by a car that ran a red light. The passenger side slider took the hit, the 4R spun around then rolled in the intersection. Everyone in the 4R walked away and the owner went out and bought the same truck. He then unbolted his OPOR sliders from the rolled truck and bolted them onto his new truck. Even after the accident they were still good to go.

Weld on sliders if not installed with "fish" plates, welding term of load distribution plates can lead to cracked frames. Toyota frames are soft and can crack next to the weld over time. Any frame guy will tell you, never weld in horizontal or vertical lines on a frame, always an arc or angles. Of course in the past 17yrs of Metal-tech 4x4 we have welded sliders with success on frames, but we can enginer solid bolt on solutions that provide more value over all. (protection, lower cost install, ability to resell, ability to move to a new truck etc.)
