I picked up a dometic cfx50 on the group buy and im reasy to start the install. Whats the normal method here.... install plywood on the floor and mount to that or install the slide directly to the floor?
Fridge install advice?

I don't know that there is a "normal" method. Many of us have home built drawers that have D-rings and the fridge is straped to those D-rings. If it was me, assuming you don't have a sliding cargo tray and don't have drawers in the rear I would build a small elevated platform (many on here have done so search if you want details) with a hinged split top that has D-rings for the fridge and then it also levels the rear cargo floor for sleeping if you ever wanted to nap in the back.
*Edit didn't see you had a slide, same concept as I mentioned but no need for the D-rings if you have a fridge slide to mount to the platform top.

How you mount your fridge depends on your: budget, needs, and power supply.
You can do low budget and rachet strap your fridge to the ty down in the back, or you can make your own plate system for cheap, or you can buy goose gear's plate system by selling a kidney or two.
Needs: you can just mount it with rachet straps, you can do a fridge slide, you can do a plate system, or you can mount it on top of your drawers.
Power supply: Are you doing single or dual battery. If you are doing dual battery are you going to mount second battery in the cab. Are you using a portable solution that will take up space with the fridge.
YOu should give use an idea of what you are planning, camping trips off road, or just long road trips. Do you want additional storage, or not. Do you want the versatility of keeping your fridge portable, or do you want the fridge hard mounted down??
I run my fridge depending on the situation. I hard mount it on my plate system when I travel by myself. When I camp, i put it on top of my drawers. When I"m lazy, i just strap my fridge to the back seat.
There are alot of options out there.

I used...and still do use, a simple rail system with cam straps. Works so well that in 40,000 miles over the last two years I've never had an issue.

I also got a Dometic CFX recently and my plans on installing it is to get the Goose Gear Plate System and a Dometic Fridge Slide. The GG plate is birch plywood with linex coating designed to fit in the 4R rear. Expensive but makes the rear very clean.

Thank you! Looks like a good deal. I really haven't research that brand and know nothing about them..My top 3 choices so far are Snow Master, Dometic and ARB. Thanks for sharing though.

I did a sheet of plywood wrapped in carpet with a slide bolted into it, mainly so I could take it out to use my third row seating when needed. It works very well though.

The Dobinsons fridge is the same thing as an Indel B fridge. They are just rebadged. Indel B also made the older Dometic CF (not CFX) series. It's an excellent fridge. Won the Value Award in Overland Journal's Fridge Round-Up and even outperformed the ARB and Dometic CFX in that test. I don't see the point in spending extra money for an ARB or Dometic when you can get a better performing fridge for $300-400 less on the Indel B/Dobinsons.

Thanks sn_85..Very good info. I am so close on pulling the trigger on one of these based on price and reviews. I know it will freeze or refrigerate but not both at the same time. I really would like to have that option. But that option is pricey for sure. Do you know if you need a free shipping coupon code for the truckfridge 51? Hmmm, not sure. At the top of the page it says Free Shipping. I'd give them a call and find out. I spoke with them on the phone last year about my order and they're really nice and helpful.
I've owned my Indel B 41L for about 1.5 years and its worked great. Performance wise it's excellent and surpasses the ARB and Dometic. It might not be as nice in terms of build quality and extra features but I don't think the extra $300-400 is worth it. IMO, either get the Indel B or swing big for a Snowmaster or National Luna but like you said those ones are $$$$. Also I'd invest in a fridge jacket for extra protection and insulation.

I didn't want to mess around with my truck electrical system and having everything portable seem to work ok for me. I used this setup for my CFX65, 3 3 days trips. The fridge and the 100W solar panel were plugged to the Generator all the time and no issue for 3 days. During the day, the solar panel charge the generator, the generator provide power to the fridge. At night, the generator provide power to the fridge. The flex solar panel is light and can stay on top of the awning. Quite simple, no drilling or mod or anything. I don't know how long I will keep the truck so this option fit my need.
