I'm fairly late to this thread but I'll throw out my experience.
I used froglube on all my AR's and handguns. Worked really well and smelled great. The only downside is the initial application.
Then I heard good things about FireClean so I decided to try it out on my 22lr's to see how it performs. I now use it exclusively on all my firearms. Even with a light coating, it feels much "slicker" than multiple "heated" coats of froglube.
